Dr. Pillitteri girls

Last question for the day I promise. I'm a patient there for a few months now, and I've only seeing Eileen Pillitteri. When I was seeing an RE, I was told I would be high risk due to diabetes issues. I ended up getting pregnant without the RE. I went in today for a confirmation of pregnancy and I'm concerend. Eileen is wonderfully sweet, but I just realized she is a PA and not an OB. She told me to stay on my current meds, which my diabetes doctor said is ok in the beginning of pregnancy, but I will have to change off of them within the first trimester. She has me coming back in 2 weeks to see the heartbeat, but what i'm reading is saying 5w 3d is too early to see/hear it. Should I be seeing him? and how do I go about seeing him? Call and request him?

I just saw a post from 12/20 that said Mark Pillitteri recommended extra supplements for a girl with pcos. I have pcos and she didn't say anything to me about it. I know I sound crazy but I'm just scared.

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

That girl would be me. He has me on Metanx. I'm also glucose intolerant and he told me I will have diabetes in pregnancy. He's sending me to Dr. El Kady, who is a high risk doctor at Good Sam.

The thing I like about Dr. Pillitteri is he's detail oriented and proactive. Call and tell them you want to make your next appointment with him. His hours are very limited, but it might give you piece of mind. Feel free to FM if you want.

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

I like Eileen too, but he's the OB.

I'd call back and make another appt. to see him, and tell them your concern.

FYI- I was able to see my HB @ 5 weeks. But, if she wanted you to come back in 2 weeks, would that make you 7 weeks?

I definitely would see HIM.
Best of luck and congratulations!!!!!

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

First, Congrats!

He has surgeries all day on Weds so you couldn't have seen him today. You mentioned they wanted you to come right in so maybe they just wanted someone to see you. He is only there on Mon and Thurs. I think Sat too for pregnancy visits. You can definitely ask to see him over Eileen, especially for the first visit. I really like her, but I know I'd want to see the Dr. in the beginning too.

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

This is one thing I didn't like about the practice... Though, when I did see Dr.Pillitteri, I found him very thorough and I liked his personality.

Dr.El Kady (the high risk fetal medicine dr) is GREAT! Nothing but RAVES for her!

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

Thank you guys! I hate to be so crazy but she just didn't answer my questions. My endocronologist wanted me off of metformin as soon as I found out I'm pregnant, she said to stay on. Plus we have progesterone issues in my family but told me to come in 2 weeks from now for a sonogram. My sister said that I should be getting more beta tests to make sure the numbers are doubling (to ensure my progesterone is high enough). Considering the baby is 1/5th the size of a dot, he/she is sure making me worry like mad!!

Re: Dr. Pillitteri girls

The first time I went in to confirm the pregnancy I saw Eileen but once it was confirmed I started seeing him. That is probably the what will happen with you but like the other girls said if your concerned I would call and make sure your next appt is with him. Good luck and congratulations!!!
