if it's handwritten and holds special meaning I save it.
if it's a picture of family/friends it goes on the fridge
anything else I read, think aww that's sweet, and then trash.

Handwritten: kept for about one week, sometimes thrown out as soon as they are read.
Pictures: Depending on who/what: Wedding thank you photos are always kept. Birthday party thank yous are typically kept til the next pic of the child is received.
same except handwritten are only kept long enough to show and read to dh then thrown out

i hate getting them.
i always think, "wow, so-and-so sent me a letter! how old-fashioned! can't wait to read it!" and then it's some silly TY card with scrawly handwriting of empty words of thanks.
very disappointing.
if there is a pic and I like you, I may keep it. or not.
Ditto. Almost word for word.....
Pretty much "basura", I hate paper junk.
My Dh already drives me crazy with the mail all over the bathroom.

99% of them:
Read them, reflect, then throw them out.
1% I keep forever because of sentimental reasons. Either they wrote something really touching or something like that.
This is true for cards too. I still have a birthday card from my grandparents from when I was a teenager. I kept it because my Pop wrote a message in it (usually he just left it to my grandmother). I love looking at it years later and seeing something from both of them

I am very strange when it comes to invitations & thank you cards.
Invites go on the fridge until the day after the party, then they go into a storage box.
Thank you cards go on the fridge for a couple of weeks, then they go into the storage box.
I have always felt that people put a lot of time, effort & money into cards & invites so I might as well save them.
I also got this from my grandmother who did the same thing. Growing up I loved looking at all the old cards she had, especially the ones from family members.

I keep them for a couple weeks and then throw it out.
I keep all photo cards and put them in an album. I think it's fun to look back on them.

Hahaha this is so true! I'm definitely one of these people!
TY's with photos go on the fridge for a while. Then they go in the trash like the rest of them do.

If it has photos or a sentimental written message that I'd want to keep, I put it aside and end up scrapbooking it eventually.
Others I put up on the fridge for a couple weeks, and then toss.

I throw out kid pictures.
I keep the wedding pictures.

I have a cousin who feels the same way. She has boxes full of every card anyone's ever sent her - birthday cards, Christmas cards, thank you cards, get well soon... she keeps them all.

I take the photo (if there is one and tap them on the inside of one of my cabinets. It's become quite a collage!
I will hold onto the hand written note for some time and unless it has a significant personal meaning, I throw it out.

Exactly what I was thinking!! 
I see a spinoff coming...is it tacky to immediately throw out a handwritten TY card (especially if you would have b*tched and moaned if you didn't get a handwritten TY card)?
ha! I was thinking the same thing. As long as I get a TY card, I don't care in what form, I am happy.
I toss any card that is not a picture card. I save picture cards in a box.

Not strange at all.. i do the same thing.
i keep all wedding/shower invites i get, along with the thank you cards associated with the events, any programs, or place cards etc from the wedding. I have a pretty set of fabric covered boxes where i keep all of that stuff starting with the very first friend who got married. I think it will be nice many years from now to look back on all of it.
If i get a thank you for a bday gift from a relative, i'll usually keep it for a little while on the fridge, then toss it.
If i get a hand written note from a friend who doesn't live close (i have a dear friend who occasionally sends cards or words of encouragement) then i keep those in a box too.
I have a box where i've kept all of the cards/notes/letters etc from DH as well.
I'll keep most things from a special life event (wedding/birth announcement) but anything else i only keep for a week or so then throw away
