How do I find out if FIOS is in our area?
I saw Verizon people digging up the street a few months back. But, I don't know if we have it here. IL's might want to get it...
Now DH and I are moving and I want to know if where we are going will have it. Someone at work said you can search online and put your address in.
I checked the website and got nowhere.

What area are you in? I thought I read somewhere that you are Kings Park/Smithtown border? If so, Kings Park definitely has FIOS so i'm sure you'll have where you are. You can call Verizon or look online I'm sure

head to the website!
you enter your information and they will tell you if Fios is available or not
Click meeeeeee
you can enter your address and they will say if it's available or not

Go outside your house and look up... Do you see any lines like power or telephone lines... If so look for a large long black whatever they call it every couple of houses attached to the power/phone line.. That's FIOS....
If I remember I'll take a pic of it tomorrow and post it here...

We don't have any power lines.
Everything must be below ground.
We live in a cul-de-sac neighborhood where they don't have power lines.
When we move, it is the same set-up.
What does that mean for us?

There are a lot of areas where you will see the thick wires for fios...it doesnt always mean you can get both data and tv
I sell fios and even when we check an address, it only tells us what is currently available...it doesnt give us an estimate of when either data or video will be available...probably because they dont want to irritate people by giving them a date and having something get tied up and not being able to provide it. Ours are underground an Verizon has been digging all week. And while the whole town has had FIOS, we have not...I'm assuming that after this dig, we will have the option.
There's a great benefit to underground wires though - no blackouts in bad weather!
