c-section

I had a c-section on Thurs. I was up and around on Friday and went home on Sunday. I was fine and a lot of people commented on how well I was doing. Last night and today I can hardly walk around it is so painful though! If you had a c-section- how long does this last? Also, how long until you were fully recuperated. I am so exhausted!

Re: c-section

It may be more painful since you are home if you wind up doing more. Like for me, I just rested in the hospital but I tended to do more wonce I got home which caused me to be more sore. Take it easy and REST!! Your body needs to recover! Chat Icon

Re: c-section

It personally took a long time for me to feel better.

Once I was home I was on the meds every couple of hours - which made me feel like I could do more - but in actuality I was shot at the end of the night - and in so much pain.

Take it easy the first two weeks (easier said than done I know) and your recovery should be much easier! Chat Icon

Re: c-section

I was in a decent amount of pain for about a week. The 2nd week I felt a lot better and actually was out of the house every day pretty much after my doc said I could drive 2 weeks after my c-section. I was carrying Kaydyn and her car seat all over the place.

Re: c-section

With DS, I had a c-section on a Wednesday AM, was up by that evening sitting in a chair, was up walking around the next day and went home the day after that. I had some discomfort here and there but nothing too bad. I was feeling much better and able to drive after 2 wks. I was able to start working out after about 8 or 10 wks. I hope you feel better soon. Chat Icon

Re: c-section

Took me a while but I was in no way up and walking around fine the day after. You probably overdid it which is why it's so severe now. Just take it easy, even if it seems like you can do more - you've just had major abdominal surgery and you're caring for an infant so restorative sleep is not on your side.

I think I was really good by about 4-5 weeks. I should add, though, that I had some pretty painful complications that required surgery 5 days before I delivered and wound up with a 105 fever in the hospital the day after the c-section, both of which may have complicated my post-op healing.

Re: c-section

Maybe if you were on pain killers in the hospital you weren't feeling the pain as much?

That is what happened with me.

Don't over do it, your body is letting you know, it was major surgery, slow down!

Re: c-section

Thanks ladies. I took a few perkosets and motrin in the hospital but I stopped a day before I came home because it never made me feel better.
Also, I can't take the pain killers now b/c DS bris is Thurs and I am breast feeding and they don't want me to give him anything that could cause him to have clotting problems.
Taking it easy is easier said then done. IM trying to prepare my house for a bris on Thurs. After that I will just relax. Thanks :)

Re: c-section

It took 2 weeks to really feel better. I am just slightly sore these days. I took Darvaset until 5-6 days PP and Motrin until about 12 days PP.

Re: c-section

You probably are over doing it causing the discomfort.

I was like you, felt great right away, but then I did too much, and would get really achy. Once I learned to not do more than take care of DS it was fine.

Re: c-section

Sounds like you are doing too much. Relax and let someone help you!

I was not *fully* recovered from my first c/s for about 2 weeks. My 2nd was longer and my 3rd was the worst.

Hang in there!
