where do you get your decorating ideas?
We're finishing our basement and going to make it a den. We'll move our current LR furniture down there and then get new LR stuff. I can't wait! I feel overwhelmed though with ideas and what kind of furniture to get. What are your favorite mags or sites to get ideas from?

OK, I must preface this by stating the disclaimer that I like really modern stuff...
mag, that's EASY

Try doing a seach on this board for "decorating". I know this subject was just brought up recently about the magazines and stuff. GL! There are so many magazines out there. Sometimes I just go to the store and look at the magazines there and if there are good ideas, then I buy them.  I also love watching HGTV or any of those kind of shows.

i go to my mom (interior designer ) but i like looking at pottery barn for ideas then i just go with it
HGTV is good
or i got to Barnes and noble or borders and look at mags there

I watch ALOT of HGTV. I get so many ideas. I also get Country Home magazine.

I have two MIL's. One of them truly missed her calling. She is awesome at decorating ideas and interior design. She helped me pick out all my colors for my house. She is the best!

In addition to the ones already mentioned, the website FurniturelandSouth.com has great room ideas. Also, the book 7 Layers of Design by Christopher Lowell is really useful. He discusses designing in stages and gives general tips on what to buy.
