AF question (may be TMI)
I'm wondering if you think the same thing I do right now-
I was supposed to take my last BCP last Saturday Jan 2.
I ended up waking up to AF on Friday Jan 1, so I didn't finish the pill pack.
AF was light (but VERY crampy) on Friday-Sunday, and since Monday has been SO HEAVY. And shows no sign of slowing down.
Like buckets!
I haven't had an AF like this in years!
Is AF this long and heavy because of going off the pill? Thats what DH and I are thinking..
And I assume I would count O-days from the day AF comes (so in my case, Jan 1)?
Please help!
TIA!

Re: AF question (may be TMI)
Now that I am off, my AF is MUCH heavier than when I was on bcp. I've been on for 10 years, so I guess I don't remember, but this is what it was like back then.

I think it is just your body reacting to the adjustment of stopping early.

Re: AF question (may be TMI)
when you take BCP, it stops your body from ovulating, therefore, even though you bleed or spot, it is not considered a real period;
This is why when you come off BCP and have a REAL period, it is often heavier and for me personally, I actually felt "cleansed"

OMG JEN! The same thing happened to me when I went off. I didn't go off because we're TTC, I went off because I spotted every month for the last year and I switched pills 10 times...but thats neither here nor there...
I was burning through super plus TPs in like an hour...I used to not even be able to use Super Plus when I was on BCP! So I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!

My firt month off BCP my AF was ridiculous..I even thought something was wrong with me...The last few cycles though for me have actually been pretty light. Just the first 1 or 2 were pretty bad.

i'm slightly confused.. you said your last pill was supposed to be on 1/2, but you got AF on 1/1 so didn't take the last pill.
If you i'm reading this correctly, how would your body be reacting to going off the pill yet? you were technically still on it when you got AF. Next month would be the first month where you were actually off the pill for the whole month and then i would expect AF to be different.
I don't know about you, but even when i was on bcp, AF was sometimes heavy, sometimes light. I found after coming off bcp it took several months for AF to get to any consistency. We're all different though so you never know what your body is doing
i'm sure you'll notice a difference next month too, but rest assured its 'normal'

Hm good point, thats what happened to me though too. I used to finish my pack on Saturdays though and I stopped on Wednesday so I missed Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat and I ended up getting AF by Thurs PM.

Re: AF question (may be TMI)
AF was VERY heavy for me the first two cycles after coming off BCP. I haven't gotten it for the third time yet so not sure how long this "heaviness" is going to last.

Re: AF question (may be TMI)
I have been off BCP for 8 months and some AF are still really heavy. I feel like when it is a really heavy AF it doesnt last as long, sometimes only 3 days.

Re: AF question (may be TMI)
I stopped the BCP and got my first cycle 4 days later. My body was already screwed up bc my insurance company switched my BCP to a generic version and my body just did not like it!
I finally got my first cycle two months later and very heavy and cramping! The second cycle was a little bit lighter, but still heavy.
I felt like a teenager when I went off the pill bc my body was just all out of whack! My face was breaking out like crazy, skin was very oily, weird cramps that I wasnt used to and so on...
Give your body a few months to get back to normal...it took me about three months!
