Would you be upset if someone who had coxsackie (hand foot mouth disease) last week came to your home?

Our kids had coxsackie last week. They are all better now.

Would you be upset if someone came to your house to play if they had coxsackie last week?

It is supposedly only contagious during incubation period. After your fever breaks and the bumps appear, you are supposedly no longer contagious.

Our kids are better but you can still see the bump scars. I'd appreciate honesty.

I'm leaning towards staying home.

I would leave it up to the parent, just let them know your kids had it and you were told they are no longer contagious. It's her decision then. I wouldn't be happy if someone came and didn't tell me (and I'm by no means a germaphobe).

considering that my kids are daycare kids and are always exposed to this stuff it wouldn't bother me if it was last week. However, I would opt for full disclosure and tell the host that my kids had this and let them make the decision if I can come or not fully letting them know that I would understand if they didn't want us there.

If the infectious period was over, then no. Wouldn't bother me at all. As long as the mother told me ahead of time that the kids were getting over it i'd be fine

It would bother me. I have a 5 month old so I would prefer to keep him away even if the infectious period was over. I would just reschedule.

Its not contagious anymore so - no, I would not be upset!

I wouldn't be upset if the contagious period was over. Wed never leave the house if we waited past the contagious period on illnesses.

i wouldn't be upset..... but always better to ask the parents - because otherwise they might think the kids sick with something else that is contagious.......

i stayed home til all my sons bumps were gone as precaution, but that's after he gave it to all his cousins at a bday party... we had no idea he had it til it was too late

If they knew their child had cox sackie & came anyway, I'd be upset.

Otherwise, no.

Definitely best to keep your guests informed. I'd probably not expose my kids though since the virus is still contagious long after symptoms are gone.

A little, I would want to wait a little longer. My son had it and it took a while for him to feel like himself, and for the drooling to slow down. I remember the first 4 days were awful with high fever, really long naps, up all night, crying etc.

I would let the parent know who's house you were going to and let them decide.

IMO, I wouldn't and haven't let people into my house for the same reason, but at the time I was 9 months pregnant and right after I had my DD. I did ask my ped about it and they did say while the main highly contagious part of it is over, the virus can still remain in the stool for up to a month. So we kept everyone who came in contact with it free and clear from our home for a month after DD came home.

Now that i don't have a newborn, i'd have to seriously think about it and my decision would be based on my kids age/health and the kids who are coming over.
