What do you say to a pregnant woman

buying Cigarettes? We get women in all day that are pregnant buying cigs... and I feel like I need to ask why do you need this and why would you even want the 2nd hand smoke in your home.

Nothing because she is hormonal and may kick your asss for commenting on HER life. They couldbe for her DH,friend,mother. Just saying.

They could be buying them for someone else...and if that someone else lives with them, they may smoke outside, not in the house.

You never really know who it's for, so I wouldn't say anything.

I HATE IT! A girl I work with goes out for cig breaks all the time. It kills me everytime

I have to say..when my parent's were together and she was pregnant, she would buy cigs for him if we were out, she hadn't been smoking in at least 10 years by this point. It happens.

If I was on the way home, I'd stop. Don't say anything.

Also, there's a girl that works at McD's by me. She's about 7 months pg yet goes on smoke breaks.. OY

As a bartender, you cannot even refuse to serve a woman alcohol who is pregnant. Its against the law. You can cut her off after one drink and say she is too intoxicated for another drink.

I have never smoked in my life nor has my DH. But I grew up with a mother who smoked ... she smoked throughout her entire pregnancy like many many women years ago. I am not condoning it.... but breaking an addiction is hard. I am sure many women would give it up if they could and it prob. makes them sick to think of how it may potentially harm their child. But, that just goes to show you how difficult it is.

I dont know how people smoke at all during this day and age ... but people do.

I have actually heard of women who were told to continue smoking by their doctors because going cold turkey would have been too much of a shock to their body and the baby...

I never smoked a day in my life- but it's none of my business what others do.

A girl I work with is 6 months pregnant and smokes a pack a day. She is more concerned about what will happen if she doesn't sleep on her left side then the smoke she is inhaling all day. I say nothing, it's not my place and it's none of my business.

I wouldn't say anything, yes the cigs could be for anyone, but what if she just had a really bad, crappy deal, dealing with people, like you, who think they know better and just wanted one drag off one cigarette, but had to buy the whole pack.

would you say something to a pregnant woman who was running that she could have pre-term labor? or one who was parking in the closest parking spot that she should be walking more? or one who took a sip from a glass of wine? or one who was eating a sandwich with coldcuts? or brie? or a chocolate bar?

pregnant women are human with vices.

just because you showed three doctors who most likely are not dealing with smoke addiction, prenatal care, and other ob/gyn issues --- doesnt mean legit doctors dont practice this.

I have NEVER heard of many things - doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

I feel it should be illegal as well.. Isnt that fetus a minor? Also drinking.. If a parent gives a minor alcohol isnt it illegal? Its part of a childs bill of rights "Neither parent will smoke tobacco materials inside structures or vehicles occupied at the time by the child". I would think a womb is inside structures.. But then this is opening up the entire law of rowe vs wade. Its not illegal for a woman to abort her child so I guess its ok to smoke a cigrette. Its pretty sad.

ETA: This bill of rights is for children of divorced parents.. i guess its through family court. not sure
