Let me preface this with the fact that I love medication and I hate feeling sick! But I also don't think that all drs. research the long term effects that these OTC meds have on small ones!

A good friend of mine who is a dr. had a dd 9 years ago with AWFUL reflux. It was the worst I have ever seen!

Her ped told her to give dd small doses of mylanta throughout the day. This was in addition to RX formula and rice.

What the dr. didn't know was the doses of mylanta (which has magnesium) can cause muschles to atrophy. DD didn't crawl until she was 11 months old and didn't walk until she was 15 months. There was PT/OT for the DD as well starting at 10 months when she wasn't meeting her milestones.

I know I am not a dr. but just wanted to share the experience of my good friend and just be a little cautious with these meds.
