Holiday Card Wording Question (for Jewish ladies or for those who receive cards from Jewish friends)

So...everyone can answer!!Chat Icon

I am Jewish and I'm not sure what wording we should use on the holiday photo card. Most of the holiday cards I receive in the mail either say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. I'm not sure if I should do the generic Happy Holidays or use Happy Chanukah. My card list probably has more people on it who are not Jewish than Jewish, but not by much. Just looking for opinions on what you've done or what you've received. I do not want to do a Happy Chanukah and Merry CHristmas together.

Thanks!

I'm Jewish and most of the cards we get are Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. Last year was the first time we did holiday cards and I did Happy Holidays

Depending on the card style I like and pick, I have gone with either Happy Holidays or Happy Chanukah. I tend to lean towards the Chanukah one. The way I look at it is that people who celebrate Christmas still send me a Christmas card Chat Icon

I pick the one with the blue background and write happy holidays or seasons' greetings.

Re: Holiday Card Wording Question (for Jewish ladies or for those who receive cards from Jewish friends)

since Hanukkah is so early this year, i would think those cards are going out before December and the Christmas ones go out middle of December.

so how about 2 cards, and those in interfaith marriages gets one with happy Hanukkah and a couple weeks later merry Christmas?

We celebrate both so I like a double sided card....

One side is Merry Christmas the other side is Happy Chanukah...

I'm Catholic & have maybe 4 Jewish familes out of a list of 100+ cards. I still write "Happy Holidays". To me it's all encompassing & it also include New Year's.

It's really a matter of preference. I've done my co-worker's cards every year & she requests Happy Hanukkah & inlcude a menorah or a chai. For her, I think it is about representing - either way she's still sending me her best wishes.

Re: Holiday Card Wording Question (for Jewish ladies or for those who receive cards from Jewish friends)

We aren't Jewish, but 90% of our friends are. We always do an "all encompasing" card. Last year's said wishing you faith, love and happiness.

We get them from Costco, and they have a bunch of options that aren't religion or holiday specific.

Even if you don't order from them, you might want to look there for some inspiration Chat Icon

I think we are doing a Happy Hannukah card and a Happy Holiday one. I will send the Happy Holiday one to my non-Jewish friends and interfaith couples who celebrate both.

You are getting a Happy Hannukah one from Jeff and myself Chat Icon

Re: Holiday Card Wording Question (for Jewish ladies or for those who receive cards from Jewish friends)

I prefer Happy Holidays. I'm Jewish, and a pet peeve of mine around the holidays is everyone assuming I celebrate Christmas. I know nobody means any harm, and I actually love everything about the Christmas spirit, but It just bothers me when people make assumptions.

My daughter was born 12/21, and we went home on Christmas day from the hospital. They brought her to me in a green and red hat and gave us an ornament with her name on it. This was all very sweet, and we have the ornament hanging in her room, but it was also weird to get all that.

Sorry, that answer probably doesn't belong here -- I've had a long day, but I say go with Seasons Greetings or Happy Holidays - can't offend anyone or leave anyone out that way.

We're an interfaith family so we use Happy Holidays.

I was born 12/21 and went home 12/25, they brought me to my mom in a big stocking.

Re: Holiday Card Wording Question (for Jewish ladies or for those who receive cards from Jewish friends)

Im a Jew. Shocker. I send Chanukah cards to Jewish families. I send "Holiday" cards to interfaith and Christian families. While I realize that can be a PITA for some, it isn't for me. I also appreciate when people accommodate my faith and send us Chanukah cards. I do not get offended when I receive Christmas cards, but since I have started to do photo cards with my kids, I won't put my kids on a card that says Christmas on it. Can't do it.

We do Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings, so that no religion feels left out.
