ABC cordblood banking segement (Updated with segement #2 #3 I'm sort of outraged.

Last night on ABC world news they had a whole segment on cord blood banking. Its very interesting, its all about "the business" of banking cord blood and the uncertainties. It really put me on the fence on whether or not we are going to do it now. Anyways, here is the video if you want to check it out, the second part of the segment is on tonight

Last night I watched the second part and I am sort of outraged that doctors receive money each time their patients donate, I feel like its part of the reason why we are so bombarded walking into the dr office with viacord ads, CBR ads. I feel the pressure to do it because of the what if's, I never want to hear "well if you would have saved the cord blood", but it seems like those 80 diseases they say cord blood cures, might actually be false. I'm still on the fence but here are the other two videos. That I would share

when i went to get my NT scan done, there were little booklets about this

i didnt realize how it is to do this!

i would be interested to hear from people who have done it before

Thanks, I will definitely watch it. I have all my info for CBR and LifeLine, but DH and I are still debating!

DH and I did A LOT of research and we are not banking cord blood. We would have liked to donate to a public bank but our hospital (Winthrop) is not affiliated with one.

We are instead delaying cord clamping for a few minutes as I believe the benefits of giving the blood back to the baby far outweight the benefits of banking cord blood.

Such a personal decision though - everyone has different opinions.
I advise you all take the time to do your own research and you and your DH come up with a decision that is best for you.
