Mood changes after stopping birth control?
Ever since I stopped the pill 3 weeks ago, I feel like my mood has been more down I'm wondering if this could be a side effect of going off the pill or if it's all the stress at work (DEFINITELY a possibility- my principal is on the warpath lately.....) ... or maybe it's the shorter days/ colder weather.....
Anyone else experience this after going off the pill?

I think going off the pill can do different things to different people. I know I always thought I'd be happier off the pill...but it didn't happen right away...at first i felt PMS and like 12 year old girl and broke out!!!!
I'm sure it's completely normal...

Re: Mood changes after stopping birth control?
I had the opposite happen to me - I had crazy mood swings right before AF on the pill. Once I went off, it did take some time for me to revert to "normal."

Re: Mood changes after stopping birth control?
My first couple of cycles I could cry at the drop of a hat. I wasn't necessarily down--just sensitive. A silly commercial could make me cry. I agree that it can do different things to different people. My skin and hair also turned into an oil slick.

Re: Mood changes after stopping birth control?
When I was on BC, I would get moody when I got AF....but last month, I was getting moody at anytime!! One minute I was happy, the next I was REALLY cranky!!! I had to keep apologizing to DH b/c I couldnt control it. This month has been better so far. I havent been as moody so thats def. a good sign.
Dont worry you're not alone I hope it gets better for you soon!!

Re: Mood changes after stopping birth control?
I'm on my 2nd month off of BC and my first month was crazy. I didn't feel like myself at all and I even had strange symptoms that made me think I was pregnant. (soreness, nausea, moodiness) but then i got AF. I think it's just your body adjusting, I’m feeling much more normal this month so far.

Yes!!! I have had pg symptoms too but I KNOW I'm not pg, I haven't even O'ed yet.
I've been getting nauseous, had headaches........ I didn't even think that could be related to going off the pill, but I bet it is!
Thanks everyone! Glad to see I'm not alone with the moodiness.....

o man, i do think that when you go off your BC your body goes threw some changes. Im going on my 3rd month BC free and the 1st month & a half i was a total mess. I would cry at the drop of a hat and get mad at anything my DH would say. Oh and the cramps and soarness was unbaerable. Thankfully its starting to get better now. :)

Re: Mood changes after stopping birth control?
my first weeks off bcp actually felt like a vacation. i felt so NOT emotional for like the whole first month.. however i didnt get AF at all after bcp - needed provera to get it and eventually dx with pcos, so apparently bcp was regulating my cycles for 12 years and i didnt even know it. not sure if thats why i felt so "normal" when i was off bcp but i also lost about 5lbs immediately which i hear is usually the opposite for most people as well.
good luck!!
