NYC teachers- eye exam and contact lens
I'm up for an exam and WANT to get contacts. Tired of 2 pairs of glasses.
Hold my hand, lol.
What steps do I take?
And what's the lens purchasing route to take that won't cost me a fortune?

you get a credit for like $250 right? I would imagine that would be enough, no?

Go to the UFT web page and the optical certificate. Go get an eye exam. I usually go an eye doctor MD. Get your prescription. I don't wear contacts, but my husband does. He bought at Costco. Used the $125 credit for them. You will have to lay it out if you go that route. Or go to a participating provider for the contacts and there is a payment schedule, but I'm not sure how much it is. Probably depends on the type of contacts. I know Costco had the best prices when my husband bought last.

I found it’s not worth it to use it for contacts. So I have gone to my eye dr, got a rx for contacts and usually get from Walgreens with coupon code. I use the certificate for new glasses bc that’s where you get the most bang for your buck.

That's a good point. I still plan on having my glasses.
