I must be missing something RE: something I saw on FB about the Santa Experience

One of my FB friends apparently wants to book this for next Christmas, and bookings opened at 1 pm. She just put on FB that the server crashed and no bookings are being taken until further notice. I went to the FB page...HOLY. CRAP. The definition of first world problems. Women saying they were in tears, heartbroken, they rearranged their whole weekends for booking. They have 2 laptops and their phone open to book. They will die if their children can't experience this. So dramatic. Is it that amazing? I already think the pictures look creepy, but is the experience that magical, that you, as a grown adult, should be sitting at your computer and crying because the server crashed before you booked? My kids are lucky they got 30 seconds with the Roosevelt Field Santa. Chat Icon

People are ridiculous. One of my big pet peeves is all the moms on fb posting, "I need..." this exact shirt next week, these cake pops, this exact toy, and on and on. It's like people have lost all understanding of what a need is. Will your world end if your kid doesn't have the perfect shirt to wear to their birthday party?

Rearranged their entire weekends? How do you even explain that? “Sorry, can’t make the party, I need to book my Christmas pictures.”

If you are on the email list, there are A LOT of emails sent out hyping this up - that the early booking is only for a limited time, that they will sell out, etc. The website crashed and the booking window was rescheduled last year too. I wouldn't be surprised if the site crashing is another gimmick to ramp up excitement.
FWIW, I booked last year and the year before toward the end of the early booking window and there were still spots left - not the best days and times, but there were still spots.

That wouldn't surprise me either. From what other people have been saying, it was way better 3-4 years ago, when she was brand new and it was more personal, and less of a business. But, this is coming from someone who will also never wake up at 5 AM to book my Disney restaurants 6 months before I go. So I guess I just don't see the appeal to begin with...but then to be crying over it? They are Santa pictures!!

Crazy! I was going to do the early booking, had an email for it and then after posting and getting feed back from everyone here I decided I wasn’t going to book, I checked my email tonight I had like 15 emails about the site crashing, the disbelief the owner was in, assured this would have never happened, blaming the company serving the system etc. that there turned me off to booking with them, needless to say, the mall santa will be it again next year!

Chat Icon Last year was the same.. and after all the server crashing and massive booking.... they had some spots left over and opened up more spots later in the year.

They are really overdone pictures, too. They look like paintings which is fine, if that's what you're into. But I love Marie Christine Photography's Santa sessions! I hope to do them with her this year... I only didn't previously because Santa made her cry! Chat Icon

Crazy people like that is one of the reasons I stopped doing the Lowes Build & Grow and I don't blame the company from discontinuing it. I used to wake up at midnight just so I could register - otherwise it would be sold out before 6am. Then people would constantly complain about the FREE builds. When they did the Avengers series - showed what people are really like (ie: horrible).

Her Santa is flat out beyond AMAZING!! He made me believe!! LOLOL We used her this year for our pics and she was awesome!

We did Santa Experience the year before, I didn't have to wait for some crazy opening of the bookings. I got a good time and date too! It was a VERY cute experience, the place is pretty neat but I'm not sure I'd cry over not being able to go. LOL I have found the quality of the pics depends A LOT on who takes them and edits them. Ours were actually very cute, not overly saturated and creepy, but I know others who went around the same time and their pics were kind of awful. We lucked out I guess.

This makes me lmao. I wanted a spot and the fact that the system again crashed is rediculous but people saying their weekends were ruined and their kids will be devestated if they don’t get a highly coveted spot makes my eyes roll. Dd asked to do them next year and I’ll try and book it but it’s not going to ruin her life or mine or make me lose a wink of sleep if we don’t get a spot.

Wars are raging, people are starving, children have cancer, there are homeless people on the streets in the insane cold we had this weekend, and yet....assholes are crying and losing sleep over a photo shoot that is a year away.
Some people really need to re-exam their lives, maybe go to therapy, find religion, get laid really good....something.

People need a kick of reality and REAL problems. Cancer is a REALT problem, the current state of our country is a REAL problem, homeless people and animals in this weather is a REAL problem etc. Your overly edited Christmas cards that aren't anything special is NOT a problem, not even a blip of a problem.

Those pictures are so creepy and over done. Plus, so many people are doing them, that there is nothing 'special' about them. We had 4 families send out the same cards this year.

Re: I must be missing something RE: something I saw on FB about the Santa Experience

Ehh

I’m sure in that moment they were upset

I highly doubt they have lived every second since crying and so t care about cancer and war and famine etc

Some like the pics. Some don’t. To each their own

I would think st one point we all have gotten upset over something that others might not get why

Jmo Don’t see need to trash them.
