Anyone else watch?
I thought this was a great season premiere!
When she told him to get in the car...I bawled!
So now we have an idea of what happened to Jack

I think I missed something because I'm still not clear ... they flashed between him going to the car with her and then she's driving alone and was that his watch or something she had with her? Why did Kevin have a cast on his leg and she cried when she saw the house was burned down?

Well I think that Jack died in the house fire.

This is Us SPOILERS
Jack got into an accident due to drinking and Kevin broke his leg in it. Jack dies in house fire?
I don't think jack was drunk when he died though. I think he crashed the car when drunk and that's how Kevin's leg broke but I think jack gave up drinking at that point and died heroically saving someone or something from the fire

Oh this show!!
A total guess but i think Rebecca was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the Pittsburgh game the day the fire started.
Kevin was afraid to jump out the window so Jack ran back in to help him. Kevin finally jumped on his own and broke his leg. Jack couldnt get to Kevin. I think she got to talk to him before he died in the hospital. I don't think he was able to say anything to her though.

I feel like there will still be some kind of twist still. I don't think it will be as obvious as him dying in a house fire. And yes, for whatever reason Kate feels responsible for his death.

I agree, I feel like it may not be as cut and dry as it seems.
Also, I think they pointed out Kevin's broken leg as a clue for us to know when Jack's death is close (or at least when the fire scene is close). My thought is Kevin breaks his leg in football or something like that and once they show that flashback it's like then we know Jack's death is close. Not sure if that makes sense but it's a great show so

Same - my brain is fuzzy but, wasn't there a scene where Jack signed his cast last season?

Now that I read all these responses. I don't think Jack died in the fire. Wouldn't Kevin know? The way Kate said to Randall we need to find Kevin tells me it was something else. Unless Jack dies in the hospital sometime after the fire.
I don't know....but it will keep me tuned in!

I still don't think it will be as obvious as a house fire. The show wants to keep us guessing the same way they made it seem like he was going to die in a car accident in the last season.
I just really hope that Jack and the family are in a good place when he does finally die.

It was a good episode...not great but good. I'm thinking that Kate starts the fire doing something stupid like smoking (since they showed Randall and his wife fake smoking) and Jack is drunk and rushing to get home and crashes the car. That is why Kate thinks it's her fault. I don't think Kevin's leg as anything to do with the fire or the death.

Last season I wanted to be married to Randall. This season I just want to BE Randall. He is such a good person. This is my new goal in life - to be like Randall (from now on, I'm going to ask myself WWRD?  )

Glad I’m not the only one. I am obsessed with Randall!! I can’t get enough of him and his adorable family. He makes the whole show.
Onto the episode...
I’m glad Kate got put in her place during the audition. Every downfall in her life is not due to the way she looks. I started out loving her character, but now she annoys me.
There’s got to be something else to the way Jack died. Since Kate blames herself, it can’t be that he died in a house fire.
I found the episode boring until the last two minutes!

Am I the only one who is so over this whole "how does Jack die?" I feel like they've beaten it to death.
Also, Kate and Toby are obnoxious. I'm giving it one more episode and then I'm abandoning it. It's a snoozefest.

No I am over it as well. They need to just get to the point of how he dies and move forward. TO be honest if the show continues to be so depressing I am going to stop watching it. It needs to be a little more uplifting at this point. The whole sad saga has been going on too long. JMO. Although I really do love Jack..

yes, she did mention that his death was her fault. so im confused how it has to do with the fire.
Either way, I was sobbing sobbing...this show really gets me

Just show his death and move on. But it was the same with William last season. It justs needs to be done already.
