YES! I think its disgusting what they did to this girl. And the screenshots of the text messages between the owner and the babysitter are deplorable. I applaud that babysitter for how she handled herself.

This whole story is so bizarre. When I first saw it it seemed like maybe the nanny was just being overdramatic about being "watched like an animal" whatever that means. Then I read some of the back and forth between the owner and nanny and it was just crazy. I couldn't even read all of it bc they went back and forth so much. I haven't been there and certainly won't be in the future. All I can really say is if that was my child you'd better believe I'd be demanding to see those tapes!

The fact that the owner sought out the nanny and sent her those nasty texts speaks volumes.

I'm willing to bet the video surveillance has nothing that the owner said happened on there.

She's disgusting. I don't live anywhere near there. But if I did there is no way I'd give them a penny.

I almost wonder if there's more to the story. It just seems so bizarre for the owner to text the nanny and then go back & forth like that.

That' owner should be ashamed of himself. By this story has so many holes. I don't get why he was texting her. She should have ignored him and blocked the number. But he was definitely in the wrong

I saw this whole thing go down on Facebook. The owner is a lunatic. She kept writing degrading after degrading thing. To refer to the child as "abnormal" and comment about her noises is just disgusting. Especially after being TOLD the child has Autism. There were about 600 comments NOT in support of this owner on the Yogo Facebook Page. It took her several days, but she finally deleted her business, after posting yet another ridiculous thing.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. The owner likely doesn't even know what autism is.

I don't think there's more to the story at all.

It's a she (the owner). There are no holes in the story. Nothing more to the story.

Did anyone see this in the local news?

This story made it's rounds around the Special Needs world as soon as it happened. Normally I am the first to condemn any type of discrimination or ill treatment of anyone with any type of disability but I am on the fence with this story. As a mom of an autistic daughter, I still need to make sure she is behaving when out in public. Just because she has a disability I do not think it is ok for her to not follow the rules or behave badly. There is a difference between bad behavior and a behavior due to a disability. The owner was watching not because of the disability but because the child was not behaving properly and there was no intervention from the nanny. According to the story the owner did not say anything to the family, just watched to make sure nothing was destroyed. The nanny then went to every social media outlet and bashed the business which in turn caused the owner to text (which is totally wrong no matter what happened). So since I wasn't there first hand, I really think it's a he said/she said and hard to truly judge.

No, she first left a review on Yelp, and that is what escalated the entire thing. It was the owner's response to that review, and calling the child abnormal, etc., that made her start posting it in other places. The owner's response is the disgusting part. She apparently watches everyone like a hawk in her yogurt shop and is rude to many people in her store. Her words after the fact are the problem here.

I think if the girl was indeed behaving badly, the owner would have posted the surveillance video showing the destructive behavior.

I am not defending the owner at all. I think the texts were atrocious and disgraceful but I also think that the issue from the start was blown out of proportion and did not need to escalate.

Re: Did anyone see this in the local news?

its quite sad...
My son is on the spectrum and has tons of behaviours
And it is quite hard to control them
As parents we do our best , but it is never enough

Children can have an impulse control problem as well as ritualistic behaviours and can get upset if you stop them

I mean to complain about the noise a child makes ....

The child did not ask to be born this way and the parent certainly did not want their child to have this disorder ..
I don't know what more to say..

Yes, this. The owner was way out of line to go out of her way to text the nanny afterward.
