Low amniotic fluid at 32 weeks

Anyone have experience with this? Last night during my sonogram my fluid level was low. The doctor checked to make sure I wasn't leaking and told me to drink as much water as possible. He is going to check it again next week.

I left the appointment not too concerned but then (of course) started googling when I got home and I'm seeing so many stories of people delivering at 34-37 weeks because of this.

Anyone?

I had somewhat low fluid, but it was still in the range of "normal" though this wasn't until later- at about 38 weeks. I was told to drink tons of water and avoid salt. I went to 40w3d before I was induced. I had a wonderful induction experience. Don't panic though- low fluid or too much fluid is fairly common. I had a friend who had low fluid at about 34 weeks and went to 38 before having a scheduled c-section.

They might monitor you more closely though. Once I hit my due date I had to go in daily for sonograms to check my fluid levels and for fetal heart monitoring.

Thanks! I was induced with DD #1 at 39 weeks and it went awesome. Just worried about having to be induced earlier with NICU time etc. Do you remember what your "low" reading was around this point of pregnancy? They said mine was 7. I have no idea what that number means. Chat Icon

I don't remember the exact number, but I thought 7 was still in the range of normal. I think she said when it dipped under 5. But don't quote me on it!

My doctor said 5 or under and I would have been sent straight to the hospital. Really hoping it's higher next time they check!

Got it- yeah that's when I was sent in for induction- it went under 5. Fingers crossed for you! My doctor said the biggest thing was to stay away from salt!

Rest and water is supposed to bring the level up. I felt like the times they got a borderline high measurement, I had been drinking ice cold water. Once, the sono tech was concerned with the number being low, I think she got an 8. The doctor rechecked and got about 5 points higher. Next visit, the measurement was normal.

I was at a 7 at 32-1/2 weeks and was told it was low and if it went below 5 I'd be sent straight to L&d. I was out on modified bed rest from then and drank tons of water. I made it to 37 weeks exactly.

No NICU time. He was 4-15 at birth. Small but healthy

My twins ere 36 weeks, fluids started to decrease. I had no growth in 2 weeks. One twin was in NICU 10 days and was 3lbs15 oz likely due to the growth restriction even if you deliver early baby will be ok!

Low amniotic fluid at 32 weeks

I had low fluid starting at 33 weeks. It fluctuated up and down until I went into labor at 36w 6d but I'm not sure if the fluid actually had anything to do with going into labor or not. I maintained it in the "very low normal range" (like minuscule amounts above a 5) by drinking obscene amounts of water and cononut water, and they monitored it every week when I went for non stress tests bc of a low beta number in my first tri bloodwork.

Eta ds was born at 37 weeks (by 1 hour at 1 am haha) by csection 100% healthy with no nicu time. The c section was bc he was breech, not bc of the fluid.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm trying to relax and drink as much water as possible. The relaxing part is a bit tricky given the long commute, 2 year old and a husband who works all weekend. Fingers crossed this little lady can cook for a few more weeks!
