My DH have a new puppy and are so in love!!!!
My question is did I create a monster?!?!
He was 8 weeks when we got him and now 12 weeks. We have him in a play pen and everything is great BUT he doesnt like to be alone. I literally can't put him in the play pen without him crying for a good 20 minutes or more. He will cry and cry. We don't have kids but I know the "cry it out" method is what many parents do and we do do that but it's so sad!! At the beginning I would go in and check on him, he's fine just doesn't want to be alone....we have music playing for him and he has toys. At the beginning I felt bad and would pick him up....so that's why I ask did I create a monster?!? And I more mean like an anxious puppy....any tips to make him stop crying for so long?!

It seems he's getting his way! This is something you can fix. But you have to be strong!
Start from scratch. Crate him for a few hours at a time. Let him cry. Yes. Check to see if he's ok but do not pick him up. He knows that if he cries, you will go get him.
In the beginning , he was probably crying because he wasn't used to his new surroundings. Now he's crying because he knows you will come and get him. As long as you know he is safe, just let him cry. It will stop.

I will definitely try this
We don't have babies but I can totally understand how moms can't do the cry it out method
I consider this little guy my "fur baby" and his little wimpers are so sad!!! I need to tough it out for his sake :)

Oh I understand. I don't have children, so my pups are my babies as well. But it's better for everyone in the long run. The more they stay in the crate from now, the more they will actually enjoy it.
My dogs love their crates (we call it their rooms)
Once they were trained, we put a big fluffy beds in there and blankets. They chew their bones in there and when they just feel like being alone, they go there to rest.
Believe me, it's a good thing.
