If you order extra pizza for a birthday party....

First time I'm having a kids party for my 3 year old son. Party is this Saturday at 430pm. About 15 kids are coming. How many extra pies should I order for adults?

Assume 1 adult per child and 1 slice per adult. Based on that I would order 2 extra pies. Of course if you are having extra family or think more adults will come then adjust. Worst case scenario you have some extra pizza to take home.

I would order at least 3 pies. Some kids we invite both parents show up. I always order 5 pies and usually take 1 full pie , sometimes only 6 slices, home. We usually jave between 13 and 17 kids.

I always tend to over order but I would order minumally 4 pies in total. One pie for just the kids ( would make sure its cut into 16th) some will eat 3 of the 16th cuts. And then 3 pies for the adults that's only 24 slices. I asumme there will be at least 15 adults plus you 2 so that's 17. Assume everyone will take at least one slice and the you have some left over. The problem is if kids come with 2 parents vs 1 if its 2 then potentially you need to feed 30 adults which means for me I would end up ordering a total of 5 pies one for the kids and 4 for the adults.

And I would still probably stress that I will not have enough food Chat Icon Chat Icon again though I tend to always over order and end up with extras.

We overordered so bad one year that we ended up taking home 3 or 4 untouched pies. A friend of ours actually took a pie home. Chat Icon

We just had dds party Saturday. We had 19 kids. Some had both parents there (but also two kids). We had three extra pies and we came home with a full pie.

I'd rather have too much than too little so I always get extra. Makes for leftovers during the next couple of days.

I would assume all kids bring both parents, so 30 parents at one slice each = 4 pies
I tend to over-order, but I also just went to a party where they ran out of pizza for the adults

People will eat more if there's a lot of food. Is party at an off time? If it's not mealtime, I wouldn't eat pizza. Even at mealtime if I got one slice I would think that was nice. Depends on age of kids if both parents come or if you invited a lot of younger kids with siblings.

Based on feedback I would do 3 pies for parents. 17 kids = 25? Adults. That is almost 1.5 per person. You can have a parent pie cut into 16ths too.

This exactly. I'd order 4 pies.

We went to a party once in NJ where there wasn't enough pizza to go around. DH and I were both there and we went home starving b/c we obviously didn't want to take food away from the kids. In fact, many adults ate, and then the children who were slower eaters (like DS) finished their half and wanted more - but there was none.

I'm totally ok with over ordering and bringing extra home (or not). I don't like have people at a party and not feeding them. I assume 2 adults per child to be safe.

I agree. I'd rather have whole pies left over than people leave hungry.
Pizza will never go to waste- I have given some to my parents, my sister to take home.
And DD will eat it reheated for lunch or dinner as will DH and I.
And I ALWAYS eat at kid's parties if there is food. I am not one of those delicate, "Oh I don't eat" type of girls.
I am borderline compulsive overeater so trust me, if there is food, I am taking it. I don't care if it's 10 am, noon, or 3 pm. Chat Icon

if it starts at 4:30.... thats getting into dinner time- people will be hungry Chat Icon so i would definitely over-order. get 2 or 3 extra pizzas. OR get one extra pizza, and then a costco sandwich tray for the adults to eat.

I'd get 4 pies. Some children may come with both parents, and some may want more than 1. I'd rather have leftovers than not enough.

I count 2 slices per adult.
Everyone will take one... if pizza is bad (Nunley's)... they will stick at one piece.
If pizza is good, most will take another slice and some salad.
If these are a lot of first children, both parents do tend to come.
