For those of you that have sewers...
I just closed on my house yesterday (YAY!) and we found out that it has sewers (score!). lol This is totally me being clueless, is there a monthly charge for the sewer maintenance or whatever? The sellers had a balance owed to the sewer company and I was like "oh, we pay for that??"  What are the fees that you guys pay??

We get a bill every 3 months for our sewers. I am not sure what it is exactly, but it is not a lot of money, i know that.

I don't recall ever getting a separate bill for sewers, it may just be included in our town tax.

I"m in Suffolk. There's like a $600 charge on your tax bill each year for sewer tax. Then I get a bill every 3 months for about $37

For those of you that have sewers...
I'm in Nassau County and have never received a separate bill for anything sewer related. Must be rolled into our taxes.

Sometimes it depends on the town and how they do it, if you pay separate or in the taxes. What town are you in?

we get a sewer bill and the amount is calculated based on your water usage. i think it's an annual bill for us and usually $200 something.

For those of you that have sewers...
We are in Suffolk and I have never gotten a bill for sewers. It's included in our taxes.
Just on a side note, even though they are sewers you are still responsible for the line that goes from your house to your street. Ours was compromised and cost us 10,000 to fix. It sucked.

Yes and that line can clog so don't flush anything down but toilet paper! Sewers are great, but not foolproof.

I recently started working in Suffolk and everyone kept telling me no one ANYWHERE on LI has sewers. I had to pull up the 3 year old real estate listing for my house to prove I do in fact have sewers in Nassau because they wouldn't stop arguing with me.
I'm SO excited to tell them they're wrong

I live in Suffolk and we get a bill every three months. I believe it's around $85 for the three months.

Ive always lived in Suffolk and have always had sewers--in the house I grew up in and my house now  I did not want a house without sewers.

I had no clue. I just assumed that everything was cesspools so when we went to do the walk through before closing and I asked where the cesspools were I was pleasantly surprised lmao.

Many areas in Suffolk have sewers but only for street drainage. The cesspool is for waste from the house. I believe in Nassau sewers are for both.
