how many people opt for short term disabilty and Aflac at their job
I do. I have Aflac cancer and accident for the family. I also have short term disability. It's so cheap where I work. Pennies for the short term disability and then Aflac for the cancer and rider and accident for family is $89/month

what does pennies mean to you, under $35 a month or over $35 a month for short term?
I thought Aflac amount is based on income. I was also told if someone started while in their 20 the cost would be less than if they started while in their 40. Not sure if this is true

Yes my husband and I are 28/29. Our plan was in the lowest tier due to age. They can never increase costs once you are locked in. It's based on age not income. I'm in the highest income bracket at my job and it doesn't cost me anymore than someone making the bottom of my bracket. And my short term disability is literally pennies... maybe 11 or 12 cents I pay. My job has great benefits and we don't contribute much

This is super important. Usually these policies are not expensive, less than a dollar a day, usually pennies per day.

I sooo wish DH's job offered aflac. It was a small company and wouldnt cost them anything to offer it to the employees. I had him ask HR and they wouldnt. in PA there is no state disability. My husband's job wasnt required to have it either b/c of the # of employees.
i have short term / long term through my job.

I always opt for short & long term disability coverage but not Aflac (not an option at my current job but it was at a prior job). I was told by my financial adviser not to take Aflac because of the cost - I forget how much it would have been, but it wasn't cheap at the time. But ST & LT disability are a safety net that I would not give up if the option is there

We do t have Aflac but we get STD and LTD as part of our benefits. I just used my STD when I had my acl surgery. There was no way I would have been able to commute. It was great cause I didn't have to worry about bills. We get 100% paid if we have been here longer than 5 years and 60% paid for under 5 years.
