Best thing that happened to you
Besides my kids and my DH...blah blah blah...
I have 2...
My career! It's not just a job. I enjoy what I do every day, despite the commute. And the union I am in is one of the best in the country, my benefits and abilities are endless.
And my neurostimilator. I was bed ridden and depressed for months, suffering from Cluster Headaches. Oxygen therapy, lithium, you name it. They told us we couldn't have kids because my CH's were so bad. My neurostimulator gave me life and then our children!!

Besides my DH and children, every single clear scan my DD has is the best day of my life.

Kudos to you! I will 100% agree with this.
13 years ago I lost 242 lbs... and the change it has made in my life is astounding...
It gave me the courage/confidence to put myself first for once and in doing so - I met DH...
And yes, he is the most amazingly best thing that happened to me as a result... I wouldn't be 1/2 the person I am (even though I am 1/2 the person I was) with out this man.
You are both so inspiring. That's amazing.
Best thing for me was having parents that encouraged me to go away to school and were able to fund it. I have had opportunities and lifelong friendships I never would have had without that experience.
I know you said besides kids but honestly, DS3 specifically for me. After fertility issues with my first 2, DS3 came as a surprise and, quite frankly, we weren't exactly thrilled. I had a miserable pregnancy. I made it positive by thinking that maybe it was God's way of giving me a DD. When I heard "it's a boy!" in L&D I was indifferent. But there is something so special about this kid. I don't know what it is. He's only 8 months old but he brings me and anyone he encounters such joy. He is such a happy little guy and has an awesome disposition. He's like a magnet too...people are just drawn to him.
He hasn't met a person he hasn't liked yet. I know this sounds crazy but I truly feel like he is meant to be here to do great things. I mean, I hope my other two do as well but I have this gut feeling he will be someone super special.

I have a good one!
After a few years of infertility and tens of thousands of dollars with no baby, baseball widow posted a grant for free IVF. I was accepted to the trial and got my baby girl out of it! She's 4.5 years old now. If I was never on LIF or never saw that post, or if it wasn't posted, I wouldn't have her!
Definitely the best thing that ever happened to me! Especially at a time when I felt desperate this was never happening.

Best thing that happened to you
Other than my kids- the day I graduated with my masters degree. I was so dam* proud of myself!! I had countless people doubt me and tell me I couldnt handle it. I had a very stressful home situation going on. I had to work two part time waitressing jobs to pay for it. I had ALL the odds against me and I did it.

Definitely my daughter, of course. You never understand that kind of love until you have a child. I certainly didn't. Just thinking about her makes me tear up.
But since you said to list other things besides family, I guess, like you, it would be my job.
I am so fortunate and blessed to work for an incredible company, but more importantly a boss who is truly a friend for years and who respects and trusts me and my judgment. I have the most flexibility , I can come and go as a I please, I can be home with my daughter when I need to, I am never micro managed or made miserable.
I ended up working for him in 2003 by a twist of fate, and I am so grateful for that happening
It makes earning a living so much easier when you aren't miserable.
Same for me.
My daughter is my greatest love ever and the best thing that ever happened to me!!
My job!! I started my current job in 2006! I've been blessed with wonderful bosses, flexibility and I work Fridays from home!!

All of these stories are amazing!
For me, it would have to be weight loss surgery- I lost 118lbs last year, eliminated all of my health issues, and became pregnant after struggling with infertility for over 5 years. DD is due in 3 weeks!

My DS. I feel incredibly happy and blessed he is my son.
And a bad situation that brought good things. I was laid off from my last job in my country. She did me a huge favor. I was having vacation here, and since I didn't have a job to go back to, I stayed longer here. Met my DH and the next time I went back to my country, I was married and with my DS that was 8 months old at the time.
Also, my dad. He passed when I was 16, but I feel so blessed to have had him as a dad, and his influence on me during those years. People in my hometown still remember him with a lot of appreciation, because he was a very good person.

DH and DS. I am thankful each day that we are a family.
My career. Returning to school last January was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love what I do.

Best thing that happened to you
My divorce from first husband. I was not mentally in a good place even before I married him and the divorce forced me into therapy. Therapy helped with more than just the divorce, it forced me to deal with issues I faced for many years. I also wouldn't have met my DH if I hadn't gone though all of that and of course, I wouldn't have my amazing DS.

Best thing that happened to you
Hard to think of anything past my girls and getting to stay at home with them. It's something I've always wanted and I'm so glad to be able to be with them every day. Related to that would be my emergency c section with dd2. Had any of a hundred circumstances from the day of the week to the doctor on call been different that day, she may not be here and healthy. Over 2 years later and every day I'm thankful for the doctor and the decision she made that saved dd's life. I hate thinking about how different my life would be right now had things gone differently and I see it too often with families in the same situation. I'll never forget how blessed we are.

Of course I have to say DH, DD, and DS. But LIF is actually the reason I met DH, it was one of the matchmaking threads where someone posted that she wanted to set up her friend (DH). I FMed her a little about myself and she sent it to him... a few days later he texted me! We had our first date two days later and have been together ever since! That was 5 years ago, totally changed my life!

This is hard to beat. Love it.
For me, the best thing besides my little family would be occupational therapy helping my son/his nursery and prek. I believe they are miracle workers at his school. If I had tons of money, I would have them make a kindergarten there lol.
