I had one at my wedding 2 years ago! I actually don't like frosting and always push it off so it was perfect for me And it fit my wedding theme!
I'm picturing that you had a naked wedding!
Haha! We had a wedding at a Beer Hall in Manhattan so it fit our venue --- I also don't like crazy fondant cakes so it was perfect for us!

I hate frosting so I like it.
I think it looks cool for a rustic themed event.

Some of them can be pretty, I think it depends on how the icing is done. Those cakes posted so far looks like they started to crumb coat and then didn't finish and it's the eye equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to me. They just look unfinished.
But the ones where the icing in between layers is piped on or at least not smeared around the outside look okay.

And I really like this look:

Definite Nay! They look unfinished and unattractive to me. And i usually remove the outside layer of frosting if it's too thick.

Not a fan. They look like the cake decorator is lazy. The icing is the best part, and a naked cake dries out faster making the cake taste stale. Frankly they were huge with the diy barn yard theme and they look cheep and unsophisticated.

I think if you like a naked cake, get a naked cake! Some of them can be really pretty and some really ugly, just like any other cake.

Not all icings are yummy, especially fondant! So naked cakes are good in my book, they work great with some themes and if the actual cake and fillings are yummy like Dominican cake (not counting the frosting which is good but not a must), then go for it!
