Would you go? - Edited

Ok... So, a group of friends with the kids all do a camping weekend every summer for a few days. Don't love camping, but it's fun to hang out outside, let the kids be unplugged a few days and get dirty and the adults hang out, laugh, drink, eat, etc.
This year we're getting a little tired of the tent camping and started looking into cabins. They were about $125 a night, which has a bathroom and AC... bonus! Problem is they are all sold out. Most are that we're looking into.
My friend texted us and asked us if we'd be interested in doing a house in PA in the mountains. $900 per family a night Chat Icon . It's supposed to be a beautiful home with 7 bedrooms, hot tub, etc. I just feel like it's a lot. We like to go on other vacations too. I don't want to be the pooper of the group, but $900 a night for 3 - 4 nights is a lot. There's no activity. We'd all bring our own food, alcohol, etc. I feel like for that amount we can do more. Thoughts?

Whoops - ok... she clarified bc the text wasn't good. It's $900 for 3 nights NOT per night, but I still think it's a lot when you're in the middle of nowhere. Still have to bring the food and stuff and there's no activity.

No.
I agree with you. That's a lot of money per night.

No that's too much for a rental house in PA no matter how nice it is. You could stay at a four seasons for that amount.

No way. We rent a huge house with friends, usually in February so not prime season, but we pay under $300 a family for the weekend after adding in food! I would try looking for places on your own to see what you can find.

Sorry, I had to edit it bc she clarified that it's $900 for 3 nights per family, which I think is still a lot bc it doesn't include much besides a nice house in the middle of nowhere. LOL

$900 per night per family!!!!! No Way!!

At first, I thought it was 900 per night and then that would be divided up so I thought, "oh that isn't too bad. It only comes out to like $400 total."

With the edit thats better but still kind of a lot with no activities and having to bring food, cook etc.
Also is there a pool? What do you plan to do with the kids all day? Is it local to attractions?

We're paying a little bit less to rent a house in Cape May MDW so I do not think $900 is too much for 3 nights to rent a big house. We always have a great time so it's worth the money to us.

3 night house rental for 900 is not terrible. I would see if we could swing it and decide. you either can or you cant

I think that's the thing. I don't know anything about the area. Just two pics she sent. I'll have to look into it more.

No, after I realized the cost it isn't bad, but there's no pool or anything. I'll have to go over it with friends and see.

See, that's Cape May. Lots to do in the area, beach, shops, restaurants, etc. I just was told it's in the mountains in PA. LOL! For a beach house I'd totally do it. For a house in the mountains in the summer by no pool or anything I think it's a bit much

I wouldn't do it. I would stick to tent camping this year and maybe look into RV rentals. For next year, book a cabin early. I would not pay that much to sit in a house for 3 days.

No that's more than a hotel a night and I would rather stay there where there would be a pool! I think you go do one of those indoor water parks over the summer of that price per night if not cheaper.

I know this is not Florida but in FL we rent beautiful houses and it only costs us $300 per family for 4 or 5 days. So comparing that to what you offer makes me think its not worth it

Even with the edit, I feel the same way.

1- I love the mountains, hiking, kayaking, rafting...so I'd barely be in the house that I'm paying a lot per night for.

2- IMO there is no point to stay in a house all day to get your money's worth when it's surrounded by nature.

3- If you're not super outdoorsy (though OP you've done tent camping so I assume you are), but you don't even have a pool at the house rental, what's the point? Maybe you guys can find another house with a pool?

4- You could do a lot better for $300/night if you look elsewhere. Can you guys look into cabin rentals in other areas? Something has got to have availability.

I'd probably do $900 for 3 nights if you can afford it.
