Just look at the lack of posts these days. It is shutting down by lack of participation alone.
Right but it's been like this for years and it's still here.
People are acting like it will be gone tomorrow- like you won't be able to get on it and the site will be closed.
I posted the counts more as a "call to arms", to see if maybe we could somehow get more posts going on in here. I'm not sure how, but I do think that TPTB need to do more to encourage more users and more posting. The big prizes for the X millionth post was great when it was once a year, but now that it's every 3 or 4 years, there isn't the excitement of hitting milestones anymore.
I don't think it will be going away any time soon, since it's very easy to just let it coast on cruise control for years (as it appears to be doing for a few years already).

I've been a part of the LIW / LIF family since 2004 when I started planning for my 06 wedding. An overwhelming amount of posters has gone. But I'm glad we remained friends through fb. Lots of great memories & useful ideas & information from these boards. I will miss it if & when it goes.

The site is definitely not as active as it was years ago and it's sad. I joined when i was pregnant and it was such a valuable resource. I learned so much - pregnancy stuff, parenting tips, about places to visit on LI i never knew about, etc. And the anonimity is one of the best parts! I'm not on any LIF FB groups, I prefer this format.

The posts decreasing really doesn't surprise me. There are so many other sites that people are now using that alot of useless posts are not here anymore. People are using Facebook or google to get their answers. I think this site is great. It is a good cross section of information and easy to use. I think part of the problem is trying to get new people to join. In the beginning most of us came over from LIW and it was very active. We do not have many new members anymore, at least from what I can see. As long as it doesn't cost to much to run the site, I see no reason why it would shut down.

Also I wanted to add that in the beginning there was not such a breakdown of sub groups which I think causes people to post less. Some people never post on Home or Celebrity (as an example) but if the same question was posted on FHF it would get more responses because more people are seeing it, which equals more posts.

yes i think kim was admin
also for LIW
she used to post pretty quickly if you asked her something back in 2012/2013 even.
they had an office in medford, small but a few people. not sure what happened to it/ if it's still there?
i check all the new posts 5-6 boards daily
but then i forget for a couple weeks
then i come back lol
i hate fb groups too! so annoying.

The Home board is actually what got me into this site... I was searching on-line for input on a project I was planning on doing, and saw all of the home-related topics being discussed... 
But that was back when just about every sub-topic was posted in regularly, and the Admins moved topics quickly into their appropriate forum.

I became active on here in 2010 and I was pretty out of the loop then. It seemed very tight with people becoming friends offline and having play dates. FB has def taken over that but I like the privacy of this site. The ladies here have been incredibly supportive during some difficult times in my life. Hopefully it can get back up and running!

I just have to say that I disagree with this statement about FB groups. I am a member of several groups - including a few that are full of old LIF members who were not happy with LIF.
I have seen these communities on FB come together in a FLASH for someone else. Donating time and/or money for a mom who is going through an illness, a family who had a medical emergency, a clothing drive for a family who lost their home to a fire, etc. etc.
I've actually found more community in the FB groups than I ever saw here. I've been a member of the LIW/LIF community for almost 12 years and made some good friends. Unfortunately sites like this just end up falling by the wayside due to innovation and social media changing how we communicate.

Agree with all of this. I can't stand FB groups, I think I've posted in one twice. I will be so sad if this site completely fades away.

I hate the Facebook groups bc you post under your real account and name. I like to be anonymous. Recently I was in a closed group on fb and posted a response to someone that was sort of medical ish and my friend screen shotted it and sent to me asking about it. I thought if I was in a closed group it wouldn't show up on my wall and it did. I am still upset about that.

I used to addicted to LIW
LIF was fun for a time killer at work.
I love my FB groups. I'm in a bunch that concentrate on specific hobbies/interests I have and can share with others.
