If you've previously sprayed your backyard for mosquitoes when did you have it done? Also any recos? Last year was brutal...we couldn't even go out during the middle of the day without getting attacked by mosquitoes so want to make sure we spray this year. Thanks!

You may want to look into alternatives. We had it done in the past and then stopped. We have actually had less mosquitoes since we stopped spraying than when we did.
We used alternative earth care when we did spray and once we called them they took care of scheduling. You don't need to be home and I suggest keeping your windows closed and a/c off. They came several times a season.

We sprayed last year as well and canceled it for this year. It didn't do a damn thing. We'll be trying out citronella lamps this year instead.

I've (not so jokingly) said that the guy who came to sprayed just squirted water on our property. Maybe sugar water. Chat Icon

I love the bat idea but we have bats that fly around our property every evening once it's warm and we still have lots of mosquitoes. It can't hurt to try a bat house, bats are dropping in numbers due to some disease.

Sorry but bats scare the shit out of me. I would rather have mosquitos than those nasty flying rats in my yard

I know nothing about bat houses but I did a quick search and see you can buy them on Amazon (what can't you get there?!?!). Do you have to fill the houses with food of some sort to lure the bats to them? Are they free standing or need to be attached to something? Might look into this -- our yard is a mosquito haven!

I'd never leave my house if I had bats. Never. I'd have to quit working, home school my children, and have food delivered through a bat-proof drop slot.

We have two bat houses and im afraid we still have tons of insects. I also live in a heavily wooded area so i dont think anything would help. They are perched super high on our trees. When we moved in, we didnt know what they were and then our contractor told us and we were a bit freaked out.

An exterminator told me what he company uses doesn't work. He told me to go on amazon and buy skeeter defeater (sp?). He said its $80 and you do it yourself every Thursday night or Friday am. It's natural and is mostly citronella. I haven't googled it yet so don't know if this is accurate but he had no reason to tell me this instead of trying to sell his company product.

Try a bug zapper and when you're outside, just light citronella products. There are also sprays you can use around your property perimeter before you're going to be outside. I find those work pretty well. And I use a bug spray/lotion on me, too.

We had our yard sprayed a few times last year and it did nothing. I cancelled the service and just bought a Dynatrap. Hopefully that works.
