Something like that, yes I would definitely offer to replace it.

Yes, if it were my child who broke or damaged something, I would immediately apologize and offer to replace it (after making sure my child was okay).

If it were at my house, and a friend offered to replace something their child broke, I would say absolutely not, and insist that I was just happy their child was okay and that accidents happen.

Exactly what I would do.

This is what I would do as well!

I would offer, of course.
However, if it were a friend whose child broke something at my house and they offered, I would never accept the money if it was just an accident. With that said, I wouldnt **expect** them to offer to pay for it and would not be offended if they didnt. Accidents happen.

Hmm, probably not if it was an accident. I'd just be glad the kid wasn't hurt and I wasn't being sued in this day in age when people sue over every little thing.

I guess it would depend on whose house it happened at. Aquantaince I'd offer a good friend or family probably not be they'd like at me like I have 5 heads for even offering.

If it were my DD that did it, I would 100% offer to pay.

If someone did it in my home and offered to pay, I wouldn't accept it.

But I think it's kind of the right "etiquette" to at least offer....

That's my 2 cents

Agree with this!

I would def offer to pay for the damages as a parent.

If it was my home I wouldn't accept the money, but I think offering is the right thing to do.

I host play dates at my house all the time. I would not expect someone to offer to pay for something that was broken. To me it's just part of life.
My son is super high energy and tends to bounce and touch everything when we go somewhere. I don't go anywhere anymore. But when we did I always told people in advance about his energy level and to have a safe space.
Something like a screen is totally an accident. Side note, when I was about 14 years old, I walked straight into a plate glass window at the mall. I thought it was a walk through entrance. It didn't break. But it was an accident.

Just be glad they are not suing you, like my neighbor is.

How big was this child? My 250+ lb husband has walked into screen doors without breaking them. I can't imaging how a child would break one.

IMO, the dad was probably thinking "How in the world did my child walk THROUGH a screen?" And that's probably as far as his brain got. I bet that's why he didn't offer money.
