Ha! Not a chance I'd go to that... and when my sh asked me why I hate his family, I'll tell him "this"
Is why.

No, sounds like a gift grab.

I would never invite someone to a shower and not to the wedding - its very rude.

Who invites to a shower and not the wedding? Are you sure the wedding invites just haven't gone out yet? If so, I would decline.

I had this happen once too and was TOTALLY put off by it.

they ended up getting divorced anyway.

Would you go?

Nope and I wouldn't send a gift either--it is so rude to invite you to the shower but not the wedding.

So what? How is this relevant? It sounds like you are insinuating that there was some kind of a "karma" involved since they didn't follow proper party etiquette with their shower invites. Weird. Lots of people get divorced -- even those with perfect showers at fancy places when everyone and their mother is invited.

If you are absolutely sure you are not invited to the wedding, NO WAY would I go to the shower. That is beyond rude. I'd explain my reasoning to DH and leave it at that.

No that's so rude to invite you to the shower and not the wedding, unless the wedding is a destination wedding or immediate family only.

As the other posters have said...I, too, think it's rude to be invited to a shower but not main event. I would be okay with not being invited to the wedding but don't turn around and invite me to the shower. However, I would send a small gift for their wedding.

It was meant more like at least i didn't waste money on a gift!

i was pretty close to this person so i was very offended at the time. i probably shouldn't have said it without explaining.
