By bathrooms are exactly like that! Yes it is weird, but ti makes it easy to clean-I don't have to lug the supplies far. :) I could open one bathroom up to the bedroom, but that is the half bedroom, so it makes less sense.
Mine wasn't a case of feng shui; I was told that original the shower & sink were in one bathroom, and the toilet in the other. I guess that was a thing in the 50s?

In case someone needs to take a shit while you are in the shower...it's much more.polite that way. The 50s werevall about etiquette!

I didn't know that about the stairs leading out the door....that is every single Cape also!
It's also a fire code thing in case of fire. Stairs need to lead in the direction of an exit....hence the stairs leading right to the front door.

I do think it's odd but if you like everything else about the house and location I wouldn't let that stop you from moving forward with the purchase. That's one of those things that is fixable. Just like the previous owner was able to rearrange the bathroom configuration, you can rearrange it right back.
