Square footage in a house

I think layout is more impt than square footage. We have a 1500 square foot ranch. We easily fit 50 people for the holidays. We are moving and need 4 bdrms because baby #2 is on the way and my mil lives with us 6 months out of the year. Without baby 2 we would be fine. We have a large master bedroom with a master bath and a full wall of closets. The kids room are decent. We have an eat in kitchen, dining room/lr combo, den, laundry room and large unfinished basement.

We are a family of 5 in a 2400 square foot center hall colonial. That doesn't include the basement. If we didn't have the basement to put all the kids' toys in, we would be dying right now. We have adequate space otherwise but the basement is key.

Re: Square footage in a house

We have 2 adults 3 kids and live in a 6000 sf house. We never use our formal living and dining room. It doesn't matter if we have 50 people in our house. No one sits in the dining room. Our morning room is also not used but I plan to transform it into a baby play room. I really wish we had a mud room. We don't have a good place to put all our shoes, coats and gear.

Square footage in a house

We have a 2000 square foot colonial plus a large sun room. 2 adults and soon to be 2 kids. It is just enough space.

Re: Square footage in a house

5 of us in1200 sq ft. 3 bedrooms 2 baths. Yes, we are a tight fit but we paid for location and SD. Worst house on the best block kind of thing. Thank God for our attached garage, attic, basement with campartmentalized laundry room, workshop, and kids play area, we are planning to take away a little space from the kids to make me a workout room next year. I would love 1 more bedroom and half bath but can't afford to expand.

Square footage in a house

2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs.
Our house is about 2700 SF not including garages or finished basement.
We have 4 BR. 3 Ba, den, FDR, FLR. We have an expanded ranch.
Sometimes I feel it is too big. We bought thinking we would have more kids, but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards for us. Our house is perfect and the location is perfect.
