Anyone have a favorite food documentary?
Looking for documentaries about food--essentially, why eating healthy is good for you and where the standard American diet is failing. Think along the lines of "Food, Inc" and "Fed Up". Bonus points (for whatever those are worth to you ) if they discuss vegetarianism, either positively or negatively. This part isn't necessary, it's just that I am a vegetarian and would be interested to see the scientific claims, etc.
Need to watch a few so I can pick them apart and write a big ol' paper for a class. I have a few movies to go with... just wanted to see if I was maybe missing out on something worthwhile!

Forks Over Knives
Also Race to Extinction from discover channel. Not solely about food but inspired us to incorporate vegan meals more frequently bc of the benefits to the planet.

Re: Anyone have a favorite food documentary?
I think "food inc." was my favorite one so far, but I also liked "fed up" and "forks over knives" and "fat, sick and nearly dead".
The "cooked" docu-series was really awesome!!!! i love michael pollans books about food and the tv show was even better.
I havent seen it but i remember the documentary "super size me" was pretty popular.
and I haven't seen this yet either but you might be interested in "plantpure nation".
i think all of these are available on netflix streaming.

"Fed Up" was pretty eye opening about the sugar industry.
I also liked the ones mentioned above - "Food Inc", "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead", "Super Size Me", "Forks Over Knives" and one not mentioned was "Cowspiracy".

You MUST see Jiro Dreams of Sushi, an amazing documentary about an 85 year old considered to be the world's greatest sushi chef. It's just beautiful. It doesn't fit your template necessarily, it's just a darn good food film.

It's ten years old now, but King Corn (about the corn industry) is super interesting.
