Re: Poll: Retirement Accounts - Contribution Amounts?
My DH maxes out, with added 4% match from his company.. he also has a pension fund of 15% of his salary.
A lot of people seem to be saying 18k including company match, but company match can be in addition to.

4% just to put in something. I have look in my employee guide to see the criteria for company match.

Re: Poll: Retirement Accounts - Contribution Amounts?
My husband and I both contribute the max (18k) into our 457. We both work for NYC, we can retire with pensions.

We max out both and also get a 5% match. We do it for tax purposes. Once we meet the max, we re-adjust the percentage.

Max, spread evenly. My emloyer doesn't match, but instead they make an annual profit sharing contribution!

I max out plus my employer matches 4%.
They also give an additional annual contribution and an ESOP.
DH has a pension and we fund a small IRA.

Re: Poll: Retirement Accounts - Contribution Amounts?
Yikes... I'm on the low end. I put in the minimum to get full match from employer.
For retirement my husband will retire with a pension from the county and we project expenses to be minimal as house will be paid off. The amount I would have to contribute to a 401K to equate to his pension is crazy.
