Spinoff: To Those That Don't Feel They Have a Best Friend
When you have a rough day or an amazing day or just need someone to talk to, who is your go to person?
Sometimes I feel like I keep things very deep inside because I don't have that best friend. I love DH but for me it's not the same.

I feel the same way. I have my DH, but wish I had closer girlfriends. I've never been big talking on the phone and always felt more comfortable talking in person. That makes it hard to make new friendships, or maintain my friendships when most of my close friends live out of the area. My time is so limited between working full time, commuting, and have a 2.5 year old. I tend to be 'in my head' a lot and can be introverted so that's probably also why having close friends is hard for me.

I don't have a best friend but I have friends that serve different purposes in my life. They are all something different for me. I just don't have one friend that is all things together. If I'm sad I have a friend I can vent too. If I want to go out and have fun I have a friend for that. If I have to vent or having issues with DH, I have a friend for that. Issues or great things about DD, I have a friend for that. I also tend to be ok just by myself so I don't really need to talk to anyone on a daily basis about things.

I go to my mom a good amount however, my DH truly is my "go to" person for everything, good or bad. Nobody knows or understands me better than him so I'm most comfortable leaning on him for anything I need.

My mom is passed and sometimes I just don't want to tell DH. My sister is too self centered to share with.

I just sort of keep it in. Sometimes I'll tell DH but he never has a reaction that fulfills me.
My mom is here but sometimes I'm so spent by the time I get home that I don't even want to bring anything up.

I don't have a best friend, I share with SO but if I don't feel telling him everything. I just keep it to myself. I guess I'm just introverted that way.

DH or my mom. Sometimes I do miss having a best girl friend to share things with, but DH is truly my best friend and even when I had a girlfriend to tell things to, I never truly felt fully fulfilled until I shared it with my DH too.

My DH is my go to for everything. My Mom is a close second - honestly between the 3 of us, there are no secrets at all (hum.. is that a good thing?!?  )
My 3rd is a close tie between my step Mom and one of my SIL's. I have 5 friends that while I don't see or talk to often, I know I can go to them with anything - and when we get together it is a dumping session!
Oddly enough - I'd go to one of them before my sisters... not that we have issues - but I feel like my older sister is very one sided (if its not about her, she isn't really interested) and my younger sister is just not interested at all.

I dont think u need a "best friend" to turn to. I have a bunch of good friends that as a pp said they are there for different reasons but I dont have that ONE person I always go to (other than my mom).

My sister. I know the other thread specified not family so I didn't respond there. I have some very close friends and I definitely can talk to them, but my person is 100% my sister. She's absolutely my best friend in the world.

I never really thought about whether I have a best friend til I read this post. I have lots of really really close friends, but probably not one that emerges as a "best." The fact that I never thought about it confirms that this really doesn't bother me. I turn to different friends over different issues, or sometimes my cousins.
