Is Starbucks only for "young" people?

My dad and his girlfriend are in their late 70s. He loves coffee. She loves tea. I was going to get them a Starbucks gift card, but dh said Starbucks is not for "old" people. They're pretty young at heart though. I guess they might get confused by the menu, but its not that complicated. So, good idea or not? I haven't been to a Starbucks in years, so I don't know what the typical crowd is like. Is it really just a bunch of college students?

Where do they drink their coffee and tea when they go out? Where do they buy it from for home?

I don't think starbucks is only for young people it's perfectly fine at any age

I'm just getting bored with always getting them a restaurant gift card. And I figured coffee is at least a little different. Its hard to come up with joint gift ideas for them.

It's a mixed crowd anytime I go, and they can always ask the barista for recommendations about drinks. Lots of Starbucks have pretty comfy chairs and they play nice music that anyone can appreciate.

I think it's a fine idea. They have coffee and tea and people of all ages go there.

My dad is 68 and frequently goes to Starbucks. He orders "a medium coffee" and I believe they have always complied with his request!

Re: Is Starbucks only for "young" people?

My mom HATES Starbucks, so maybe? But sometimes I think my mom just enjoys being difficult and complaining about gifts (backstory: stepbrother have her a Starbucks gift card a few years in a row, and she likes to talk about how thoughtless he is).

I think it is for any age but I don't think it is for everyone. Some people just don't go there (me). If I get a GC I give it someone else.

There are a lot of older, but still working people in
the one I go to, b/c it is at the train station. I do see retired people there sometimes, but they tend to frequent the less expensive bagel shop across the street.

My parents wouldn't use a Starbucks gift card. They pretty much just drink coffee at home or at a restaurant. When my dad was working he would get coffee to go sometimes, but never Starbucks because he saw it as trendy, expensive, and unnecessary. If he had a GC he might try.

They wouldn't complain though. They would probably just give it me.

My grandmother is 84 and Starbucks is her spot. She loves it there. My mom is there pretty much every day too.

Sure, why not? Regular coffee there is actually cheaper than most other places, they can always get that!

Re: Is Starbucks only for "young" people?

I don't think it's for "young people" but I know a lot of people don't like the coffee at Starbucks. My dad who's 78 generally does not like it there. But he'll drink instant Folgers so....
I don't really drink coffee - except when it's filled with sugar and flavorings to the point that it hardly tastes like coffee anymore. So, I totally go to Starbucks for that!!Chat Icon

Re: Is Starbucks only for "young" people?

My parents are in their late 60s/early 70s and only drink Starbucks. My husband is 39 and won't set foot in there lol! ETA: My parents are retired but still like to go out for coffee when shopping or something. Or they buy starbucks to drink at home.
