RSV.. how long to stay away from others?
Did tested positive today. How many days do you keep your child away from people, and is it just kids to stay away from?
We are thinking of staying home for the holidays

RSV.. how long to stay away from others?
RSV is most contagious 48 hours before you see symptoms- my dd pediatrician told me she should not be around people for 3-4 days after she was diagnosed. Anyone can catch the virus but infants and young children often get sicker than older kids and adults. I do not think you need to stay home for the holidays unless you dd is feeling sick.

OMG! Stay home for the holidays.
WebMD says you remain contagious for 8 days. A week is recommended and my sister stayed away from my kids for a month in case the older one or she were harboring it pre-symptoms (we both had babies). Her kid has issues from the RSV.
There was a poster here who had a severe issue with her DD and RSV (if I'm remembering correctly).
It stinks, but I will never forget when my baby got croup from family on Christmas who didn't want to stay home with a sick older kid. Mine was nearly hospitalized.

RSV.. how long to stay away from others?
We stayed home for about a week. Although it's tough you really don't want to pass it on to anyone with littles.
