Eventually one of these days we'll be redoing our bathrooms. I'm not a big fan of having these appliances in color, but want lots of color in the tiles and bathroom. Would white be too plain. I saw that Preshy7 has a white tub with beautiful tiles on her wall...that's something I would like

ETA: my sil wants to get a tan tub, sink, and toilet, but I thought it would be too much.

Personally I like white, with neutral colors for tiles. This way if you want to change things you can

Re: What do you guys think about color tubs, toilet and sinks?

I just redid my bathroom and did all white tiles - on walls and floor. Added a rope edging to the walls to give it a little more something but otherwise all white. We added color with the vanity, shower curtain, and area of the wall thats paintable. I like the clean look of the white it can easily be updated for a change with new paint etc.

I would go with white or ivory for the sink/toilet/tub and add color thru either tiles or accessories. tiles are definitely easier to change than the the sink/toilet/tub if you get tired of what you put in. You probably wont get tired of the plain white.

I too agree ivory or white.

When I see a gray tub or gray toilet now I think of the 80's. some places that have colored tubs and sink are so pretty, but are trendy. a designer friend of mine said to always stick with neutral classic colors when redoing something major (kitchen and or bathroom).

Enjoy your search.

The only thing I don't like is a white floor..IMO, you see everything (dirt and hair wise). I'd like a white tub, toilet and sink, but maybe a beige or darker neutral tone tile floor and in the shower. Thanks ladies...just trying to get some ideas.

Personally I like the neutral colors! It makes it easier to accent the bathroom with tiles & towels...Our main bathroom has white sink & tube but the countertop is blue & has blue tiles on the walls...

Our master bathroom is the same but it is a beige stall shower with accents of gold & yellows

I have a white tub, white toilet and white sinks. my floors are a natural stone tumble marble. I personally love the darker floor against the white. I agree, I did that because I didn't want to see my hair everywhere all time

I went with all white and a dramatic paint color that really makes the white pop.

In the future if I get bored I can repaint and change the towels and wa-la... whole new bathroom.

kissy331, your bathrooms are gorgeous. I like the way the white with accent colors look. It makes it look so bright and clean, plus it's easier to update later on.

Gorgeous. I love bright colors against white. It's true you can totally change the whole look of your bathroom just by repainting and adding accessories. I love it

For my master I went with all white as well.

We weren't worried about the white floor as it is only us using this bath.

We painted the walls a very pale pink... practically white because it's off of a burgundy room. i wanted it to coordinate but didn't want DH to have to have a pink bathroom.

Gorgeous. I love it. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those shower doors? and were they very expensive? hard to keep clean? For our second bathroom, we want shower doors just like these. sorry for all the ?????

Re: What do you guys think about color tubs, toilet and sinks?

I love white, how can you go wrong?

My sister has a beautiful half bath and her vanity has black marble, so her DH wants to get a black toilet because he thinks the white is too stark. I made the mistake of saying I thought it was "too 80's and cheesy" and hurt their feelings (big shocker! Chat Icon ) so I'm keeping decor opinions to myself.

I know this is how i felt with my SIL..but I quickly shut myself up. Black wouldn't even be an option for me...I would think you would see so much soap scum. I'm a little anal with my bathrooms as it is, I would drive myself crazy.

We got them from Glass Emporium in Kings Park. My FIL has worked with the owner on and off for years so we got a deal. About 2,100K

They are higher than standard height, a wider than standard door and the handle/towel bar is an upgrade.

When he showed me what standard would look like I thought the glass was too short... just belowe the shower head for such a big room (12 X11Chat Icon ). You can see I extended it to just above the shower head. i think it was 8 more inches.

I also thought the standard door wasn't wide enough so I extended that.

I upgraded the towel bar because the rest of the bathroom hardware has an antique look (my inspiration was my grandmother's 1920/1930's bathroom with the old subway tiles... I remember her giving me baths and she'd make bubbles with her handsChat Icon so that memory inspired me). I soon learned that anything with the antique look is $$$$$ why, no reason... not any better than the other stuff they just figure the customer has more money, the bigger the bathroom so... the standard ones would have looked too modern and have clashed.

I also flipped the bar so the handle would be on the inside and the towel bar on the outside.

MOST IMPORTANTLY..... I had them bring the glass wall over the tub enclosure a bit so I'd have a ledge where I could prop my legs up and shaveChat Icon Of course, none of the men think of thisChat Icon When I was a teenager and in college I had a shower stall and what a PITA shaving your legsChat Icon So the glass doesn't go straight down flush with the tile wall... it goes about two inches over... I tell everyone that who is putting a shower in their bathroomChat Icon

I couldn't believe they were here ALL DAY installing it... yes, about 6 hoursChat Icon but they were absolutely meticulous and I'd rather have that than a speedy job.

Oh, if you notice I have two shower heads... one adjustable so it's easier to clean the shower and rinse down the walls after cleaning and showeringChat Icon I'm too much of a neat freak to have a cleaning lady... could never find one who cleans like I do. We have a squeegie (BB&B for $6) and shower spray for each time we are in there... that helps a lot. I use Bon Ami cleanser, safe for glass, when I clean, rinse off and then use Windex for shine.

Re: What do you guys think about color tubs, toilet and sinks?

Not a fan of colored tub/sink/toilet. Looks too dated to me. I'm also one of the "crazies" who put down a white floor. I wanted a retro-1930 feel to my bathroom - white subway tile, white & black hex tile, chrome fixtures. We painted the walls an aqua blue and couldn't be happier.

Personally I wanted a dark, ebony wood floor in the bath but I couldn't convince my DH Chat Icon In the end, regardless of the color of the tile, if you shed - you will see the hair. If you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there Chat Icon

Re: What do you guys think about color tubs, toilet and sinks?

Since I currently have two pink toilets and tubs and a powder blue toilet and tub, I do not care for colored toilets or tubs.

We are getting ready to renovate two of our bathrooms and I have picked out "biscut" color for the tubs and toilets. It's really just an offwhite.

I think it's so pretty. OMG, thank you so much for that tip on the shaving ledge. I never thought of that until you mentioned it. Being this will be our second bathroom, we don't have room for a tub, so I'd have to mention it to my husband and MAKE sure they do something to accomodate me with that one.

My ceiling is the standard, so mine wouldn't go as high as yours although I like the high look better, but oh well.

Now that I'm seeing everyone's pics of white sinks, tubs and toiets in lots of variety, I'm totalling loving this idea.

Same here!! I have the groovy green and powder blue Chat Icon It's an old home and things need updating, but they take time (and $$$$). I'm currently in the middle of updating the main bathroom to biscuit as well. Getting rid of the green and then moving on the powder blue. But believe me I loathe colors tubs/toilets. Chat Icon
