Outgrowing the infant tub...

What did you do when the baby is climbing out of the infant tub (10mos) to keep them safe? I used to have a bath ring but I guess they don't sell those anymore and it seems so slippery and dangerous to put them right in the big tub.

Outgrowing the infant tub...

Put him right in the big tub. Once he got used to it, he didn't move around all that much.

They also sell an inflatable duck that you can put in the big tub but after the infant tub, so you could use that instead.

Re: Outgrowing the infant tub...

I used to bathe her in my kitchen sink with nothing in it until she was big enough for the real tub.

What age did you do this until? I did this with my DS and it worked out well but it was so long ago I cant remember! A slippery monkey in a big tub feels like a disaster waiting to happen!

Honestly, a LONG time! She was a tiny baby- still is tiny. I feel like she was over a year old when we moved to the big tub.
Again, she was small though and fit in there fine.

I saw that bath ring when I googled but thought it was weird that the big baby stores don't carry them anymore. Was wondering if they were deemed unsafe or recalled for some reason. Not that I wouldnt still use mine if I could only figure out who I lent it to!

Re: Outgrowing the infant tub...

I put the baby tub inside the big tub and just sat them up and let him splash away. or sometimes I put the mesh thing we had in the baby tub in the big tub under his but so he doesn't slide

I used the inflatable duck tub for a few months when dd got too big for her plastic baby tub, then switched right to using the regular tub. I've seen the idea online to use a plastic laundry basket in the regular tub to keep the baby contained to a smaller area, but that seems like it might be a waste of water since you'd still have to fill the whole tub.

This is what I was doing too but he pulls right up and gets mad when you sit him back down. I tried a cup or a toy but then he sees something else out of reach he wants to go after. Maybe he is just a maniac Chat Icon

Re: Outgrowing the infant tub...

Rectangular Laundry basket (with holes to let the water in) inside the regular tub. My younger ds at 17 months still sits in this in the bath tub. I like how it contains him.

This. At first I was petrified, but she liked having more room and therefore moved around less. I also got these Puj Grippy Bath Stickers and they were great and don't slip around like bath mats.

I believe it was recalled about 3 or 4 years ago because it was a drowning hazard. But when i read up on it (3+ years ago) I got it anyway and just made sure not to leave my kids unattended (because if they slip they can get stuck which is why there was a recall)

I transitioned DD to a regular tub around 8ish months. I just got one of those stools and put it in the tub and sat on that so I could wash her.

Do you have a link or picture of the stool? I hate leaning over the tub, especially pregnant.

We have the duck tub. DD is 9 months and about 20lbs and she fits fine, but it's a 2 person job to keep her from climbing out.

Re: Outgrowing the infant tub...

I started just having DS come in the shower with me in the morning. I'd clean him right up and DH would take him away.

I was happy I got him used to the shower because now i can shower him by himself (he's 2 but has been alternating between showers and baths for a while). Sometimes he just likes to stand under the water and let it run down his back but other times he wants a bubble bath.
