how to address envelope for invitation?
I am hosting a bridal shower for my friend. she is insisting on allowing children to come (I guess she doesn't want anyone not be able to come because of baby sitting issues).
how do I address the envelope to say this.
do I but the mother and children's name on it?
just the mother and family? (though husbands are not invited)
address the children allowing to come in the invite?
either way I need to make sure its clear that they RSVP to include any children they are bringing.
the bridal party is paying for the whole shower we are on a tight budget so its important for us to get an accurate head count.

how to address envelope for invitation?
When I had my friends shower I asker her the names of the kids of the moms.
So the outside said "Jane Smith". On the inside I wrote a post it note (or you can print something up) saying "Your daughter/kids Mary is welcome to join us".

I was invited to a shower recently with my DD.. the envelope was addressed to both of us. Ex:, Mary & Jane Smith
ETA you could also just write, Mary Smith & Family, that should work too..

I would do this. I don't think you should write 'and family', because that makes it seem like husbands are invited too.

I think if there is only one child I would write the child's name like Mary and Jane Smith. If it's more than one child I would write Mary Smith and children.

Unless the daughter is an adolescent, then you can send the daughter her own. Technically age 18, but I would use more like 13/14 years or older.

I don't know ages I assume anyone she wrote kid is def under 18 and I also only counted for the ones she marked as adults to send invites out so I may not have enough invites to send to ones under 18

Just had to do this same thing... I write everyone's name on the envelope so that its very clear who is invited.
"Mrs. Jane Doe, Miss Ann Doe & Miss Sara Doe"

I think I would address the envelope to the adult(s), and then have printed on the invitation "Children welcome" or something to that effect.
I might address the envelope to the mother and daughter if the kid is over ten or so. But not for a baby or toddler. That seems silly.

I was just recently invited to a shower with my daughter (she is 1). The invitation was address to My Name and Her Name Last Name.
Even though she is the flower girl, if her name wasn't explicitly written on the invite I wouldn't have known she was invited. I always assume kids are not invite.

i would just address it to the adult, and if they ask to bring their kid say sure! that's what we always do, anyway
ETA: i agree with the other posters about having a general statement about children being welcome on the invtite
