Pumping at jury duty
Hello ladies, It seems that I'll be called in for jury duty tomorrow (Nassau County) and I wonder if anyone has any experience with pumping at jury duty. I work, so I don't have a childcare excuse, and I've already posptoned it once, so I would like to go and get this over with. I'm hoping they either have a system in place for nursing moms or that they'll dismiss me quickly. Any thoughts or experiences to share? TIA!!

Re: Pumping at jury duty
My daughter was in this situation last year. A while before it was time for her to pump, she went and nicely asked if there was a room she could pump in. The person at the desk asked if she needed it immediately, she said she could wait a while. In a few minutes he escorted her to a room she could use. He was very nice. He told her when she was done, to come see him. He excused her shortly after that and sent her home. He said he appreciated her being nice about it. He said they aren't always able to dismiss you, but they will happily give you somewhere to pump.

Thanks, MrsDukes. This sets me at ease a bit. And it's good advice. Thank you.

There's definitely a lot of downtime, so you'll have time to pump. When everything settles down, there's a man at the front desk and a woman who roams around, and you can ask either for a room to pump. I was just there a few weeks ago.

OK, last question - do I bring my double electric pump or manual pump? Double electric is so much easier . . .

I'm MrsDukes daughter so hi! I only had a double electric pump. The office they put me in had an outlet that he showed me. I used a battery pack though just in case. Good luck! They'll also take your number so they don't accidentally call you while you're pumping.
