Texting Etiquette -
Do you know people who over-punctuate? Like, via text?
My mother. Guilty. My sister and I joke all the time because it doesn't matter what the text is about my mom adds "!!!!!!!" To everything...
Me: I'll be over after work for dinner. See you then.
Mom: Ok!!!!! Dad is making sauce!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm like, really?
I'm told that over-emojiying is also an epidemic.
Anyone?

Re: Texting Etiquette -
On the flip side, no punctuation at all. So you get one really long sentence. Drives me batty.

I always tell this story as an example of the limitations of speech to text. I LOVE it because I stink at typing on my phone- always have- but.....
I was replying to a text from my boss once via speech to text and I was trying to say, "We are going to be in trouble" (in regards to a meeting we were not prepared for)
thank God I looked before hitting send because it came up as: "We are going to make a porno."
Yeah, that would have been awkward!

I love auto-correct fails. My brother attempted to send me a text about deviled eggs and the autocorrects were classic.
My pet peeve is excessive hashtagging.

Ok, I never got into the hashtagging thing. Exactly what does that mean ?
Humor me, I am old and learned abbreviated typing on a telex machine in the 80's, which was the precursor to e-mail.

LOL, I'm an oldie too (remember when faxing was considered cutting edge?).
I believe hashtagging creates a twitter link. I get hashtagging for posts with a purpose (i.e. #bringbackourgirls#) or for advertising/promotion (#followme#), but I don't get benign hashtagging (i.e. #blessed#). Do people even follow (or care) about benign posts like #blessed#? I just don't get it.

Re: Texting Etiquette -
I almost always use 1 or 2 exclamation points. I think it's helpful so people know my tone is cheerful or excited. I hate getting a text with no punctuation. I don't know anyone that really over uses. Actually my cousin will use a line of emoti instead of words...which is frustrating cause it takes me a while to figure some of them out.

Finally me and my sister were like, mom we know it's you bc you are programmed as mom. You don't have to sign it like a Dear John letter

Because they convey cheerfulness and light-heartedness!!!! (I always use them too. Excessively. I'll admit it.)

Ahhh this drives me nuts on facebook!! I'm not on Twitter, but you can do the same on facebook. And if you click the hashtag it takes you to everyone who used that hashtag. My one friend hashtags her childrens photos with like 5-10 hashtags per photo! I'm crazy with my privacy settings, so I'm not sure why someone wants their photos to show up somewhere else due to hashtags. I'm thinking they don't realize and just think it's *cool* to do. lol

I hate the over punctuation. One exclamation point is sufficient.
However, I'm a hypocrite as I add letter as innnnnn.
