Not Cancun but Playa del Carmen that was like a 30/40 mts drive from Cancun (with my then 8 y/o). Not crazy at all. If in a good resort you can even rent a car and go to Chichen itza or Xcaret. The flight was nice and it was maybe 5 hours or less.

We went last year with our kids, then... 2 & 3 years old.
Had an amazing time at the pools & beach.
The pirate cruise was an absolute must do if you end up going.
We spent most of the time at the hotel, but did take buses around easily.
It was an amazing vacation for the $ we spent!

We've been twice with kids and loved it. The beaches are beautiful and the hotel we stayed in was amazing (Marriott). We ate out a bunch of times and the restaurants were good. Took the kids to Carlos and Charlies and they loved it. Very family friendly. We just bought bottled water to drink and brush our teeth, even though the hotel said it was purified. I do remember when my kids were little that they would get the bath water in their mouths but again, the hotels usually have purified water.

We flew to Cancun and went to Rosewood Mayakoba earlier this year. Amazing! Kids loved the kids club, the eco boat tour and DH and I got to enjoy some R&R.
There are so many wonderful resorts within 1 hour drive to Cancun.

We are looking into either an AI in Cancun or Aruba for our 10 year anniversary. Flights to Aruba are insane so Im  thinking about it!!!

Anyone been to Cancun with kids?
I am going to Tulum next week which is 75 mi utes from cancun with a .2.5 year old and 7 month old. Booked an all inclusive resort.
