I find it so strange that this is even newsworthy. I cannot believe there are people who care about this. I really do not understand the obsession.

Totally - because you know its going to be 1.5 hours of Kardashian related BS and 15 minutes alluding to this "transition". I have a suspicion it's not going to be about what we think it is going to be about at all.

Re: Bruce Jenner Interview
I actually watched it because its him. I never watched anything with the kardashians so i don't really associate him with them (of course i know he was married to the mother, but since i never watched it I still don't equate him with them, I only think of the olympian).
I feel bad that he has struggled with this for so long. I can't imagine how painful it must be. I found him to be very open and endearing. The videos of the other transgender females getting beat up and those that were killed or committed suicide was hard to watch.
I loved that he "came out" as a Republican!!!

Re: Bruce Jenner Interview
I thought the interview was really well done, and I'm happy for him that he can finally be himself after all these years.
One thing I didn't understand...his oldest son (Burt?) said something like he ran out of gym class in middle school afraid that his father would come out. Did I miss something about this part of the story? Did I misunderstand what he said? I'm not sure if he said he ever caught Bruce cross-dressing or something.

She definitely set this up and got a cut. She was watching the interview with him. I found him to be the most sincere on the kardashian show.

Well it's definitely not a publicity stunt. I didn't think the interview would be that detailed. It's still shocking to me.

I don't know about the publicity stunt thing yet. Did anyone see the commercial that aired during the interview of the new ABC family show about a transgender father going thorough the transition period and how the kids are dealing with it? At the end of the commercial it said it was a Ryan Seacreast production. Isn't he the one who is responsible for all the kardashian shows?

I think because he is the highest profile person to be transgender. If you take the Kardashians out of the equation, he WAS an Olympic gold medalist. IMO, that's pretty major.

I'm out of the US and that weird audio one on you tube is the only one. ABC has it, but I'm blocked from watching it.

Re: Bruce Jenner Interview
I was waiting to respond until I saw the interview in its entirety.
Let me preface what I'm about to say with this. I'm not a fan of the Kardashians. I think there's nothing they won't put out there and sell for a price. I was skeptical going in not knowing if it was for ratings or to keep that family in the spotlight, but after watching it I felt for him and it was emotional.
Now, as for Bruce and the interview. I can't imagine what it would be like to live your life as a lie, not comfortable in your own skin. This was going on long, long before the kardashian hoopla. This started at a very young age for him and continued throughout his whole life. Not to mention, to our generation he is known for the kardashians, but to millions of others he is known as an Olympian....the best athlete in the world as a matter of fact. He won gold in the dicathalon and was seen as an incredible male, strong figure.
I found it to be very sad and lonely to watch. What's even more tragic are all the kids out there that are rejected by their families, feel bullied, suicidal or are even beat up or murdered for trying to be their true selves.
I can only hope that opening up he has brought to light this taboo topic and has opened the line of communication for thousands of families out there and shed some light on the topic. Parents should be teaching acceptance. But, in the same breath, I hope that bc of his reality shows and the paparazzi present that he doesn't set back the movement for the transgender community.

ITA with you!
I felt really sad for him while watching the interview. I can't imagine, like you said, living a lie your whole life. He seems like such a nice person and I hope that now he's "out" (so to speak) he'll be able to find the peace and happiness he is looking for.
It was a very well done and kind interview. I have to give him credit for sharing so much, it couldn't have been easy for him.
