This board is starting to make me Chat Icon lately

Now it's a bad thing to look fantastic at 60??

She was a supermodel. She is a gorgeous woman

At 60 most models don't look it

my point was why cant a 60 yo woman look 60 and be considered "fantastic" looking. Why does she need to look 20 years younger. Its a broader societal question. i still find the photo of her face disturbing lol.

A example is anytime a pic of Helen Mirren is posted everyone says she looks fantastic

Fantastic is fantastic. I don't care what age.

People said she looks great bc she looks great

Look at her smile. It looks like she's saying "I can't feel my face."

She does look great- but not natural.

What does "60" look like? Is she supposed to wear frumpy clothes and have gray hair, wrinkles and an extra 25 lbs? I don't think 60 is old. Yes, she's had work done but a lot of it is genetics. My grandmother passed away at 94 with a full head of black hair (she never dyed it) and hardly any wrinkles. People never believed her when she told them her age. My mom at 60 was constantly being mistaken for being in her 40's.

I think the bigger societal issue is that we need to redefine our thinking of what a woman should look like at any age.

She looks beautiful. She doesn't look beautiful "for a 60 year old" - she just looks beautiful.

I think she looks like plastic.

I cannot stand when people mess with their face. I just don't think it EVER looks good when your face is full of Botox injections, when your skin is pulled back and tucked, when it looks like you can't blink, and when your mouth is frozen in some sort of odd joker configuration. Facial plastic surgery is just awful IMO, I've NEVER seen anyone whose had it where I thought, "Oh they look great!! So much better than before!!".

She looks like she keeps herself in shape and she looks nicely put together but I don't think her face really looks good. It looks like it hurts.

I'm 31, my mom is 56, we walked into the rehab where my grandmother is right now and the woman at the front desk looked at my mom (who is there daily) and said "Oh is this your sister".... referring to me. I do NOT look old, in fact, most people I work with think I'm 25. My mom looks young, my grandmother in NO way looks 82 (less grays than me, no wrinkles, it's ridiculous).

I've DEFINITELY known women who've had rhinoplasty done where they had just enough to know they've done it, but not enough to not recognize them... and they looked a million times better than they did before. Your statement is a little broad and too general to include "all facial plastic surgery".

We're talking about celebrities here and I've NEVER seen a CELEBRITY that looks good after having facial surgery. These people aren't getting a simple rhinoplasty, they are reconstructing their whole face.

A regular person who gets a nose job can look fine (and better) but that's not what I was referring to when I responded to this thread. I was referring to the chin jobs, Botox injections, blown up lips, and yanked back eyes that SO many CELEBRITIES get and I think it ALL looks like TERRIBLE.

I just watched her on The View. I thought she looked great. She still has some wrinkles around her eyes. Yes she's had work done but I don't think she looks plastic.

And if she didn't have work done. Chances are most replies would be "wow she's showing her age". Can't win.

I agree. I know it's this board and the nature of it but I really hate the "she looks old" comments. Again, just my thing. I feel like our society does not allow women to age naturally and it really bothers me. Most of the time these women who look "SO much older" than their real age look perfectly normal to me. It's just sad all around.

I think the issue here is she is not aging naturally or gracefully. Yes, she looks good on first glance but you can clearly see all the plastic surgery imo. Her face is too tight, her smile is so over exaggerated that it's Joker-esque imo.

Take Cindy Crawford for example who is pushing 50. She is aging naturally. Or Helen Mirren. I like that look better.

OK, but why does a 60 year old average woman HAVE to look 30 years younger (or like barbie in this instance) instead of just looking 60 and aging naturally - whatever that may be for HER - in order to look "good"? I think that's the point stinger was trying to make.

It's a double standard. A man can be 60, look his age, and still be considered to look "good"... yet, a 60 year old woman has to look 30, has to have a facelift, botox, extensions, hair dye, veneers, face full of makeup, tummy tuck, a team of personal trainers and stylists on call, spend 30 hours a week in a yoga studio and hide her grandchildren and her depends underpants in order to look "good". Or, she has to have hit the jackpot of genetics, and look 19 at 90 like some posters' grandmothers do apparently. Chat Icon Chat Icon

This comment actually has nothing to do with my own opinion of what Christie looks like in this photo but is referencing the above quoted comments that I feel missed the point of the original statement that was made. Women in my own family also look much younger than their actual age, but that doesn't mean I think that should be the standard of what makes a woman beautiful. I do, however, agree with the comment that as a society we need to redefine what we believe a woman should look like at any age.

I don't think I've ever known anyone who got a nose job and looked better after (granted, I haven't known a ton of people who got it done). I've known some people who've gone in for rhinoplasty and it's been evident they had it done, and they just looked sooo much better before. I also feel that sometimes what some people perceive as an imperfection is hardly even noticeable by other people, or might be something that gave them that distinction of beauty - so much so that when it goes missing (as in surgery) you notice it and they might look different afterwards and not as attractive. But if it is important for the person to fix this flaw to feel better about themselves then I am happy for them. But, the after picture doesn't always look better than the before.

I guess it can go either way.

She has always been beautiful -
As long as she doesn't have a ton of facial surgery, she will always BE beautitul, at any age. She's Christie Brinkley! She's just gorgeous.

Although I do agree it looks like she was JUST botoxed in this pic ..........normally she doesn't look 'fake' or overly 'done'
