Jon Stewart Is Leaving The Daily Show
Jon Stewart is signing off after almost 16 years on The Daily Show.
The host is leaving the Comedy Central show he's hosted since 1999, the network announced Tuesday.
"For the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart. His comedic brilliance is second to none," Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless said in a statement obtained by EW. "Jon has been at the heart of Comedy Central, championing and nurturing the best talent in the industry, in front of and behind the camera.
"Through his unique voice and vision, The Daily Show has become a cultural touchstone for millions of fans and an unparalleled platform for political comedy that will endure for years to come. Jon will remain at the helm of ‘The Daily Show’ until later this year. He is a comic genius, generous with his time and talent, and will always be a part of the Comedy Central family."
Stewart, 52, has led the faux political news program to win 20 Emmy Awards.
His departure comes after friend Stephen Colbert, who worked as a Daily Show correspondent under Stewart, left his Comedy Central series The Colbert Report to succeed David Letterman on The Late Show later this year.

This is so sad. And so weird that it was announced today. Just this morning I was listening to his interview on Howard Stern from last year and he was talking about his show eventually coming to an end and I was thinking to myself, no way can he leave. And then hours later it was announced.
Election season will never be the same.

I'm so upset by this. I can't imagine not seeing him on TV or enduring an election year without his humor 
As a social studies teacher, I just lost a relevant political resource. The kids loved him

Yes.
He is my only tv news source.
ITA. His comedy show is the only reliable source of news out there. I'm just hoping that he stays around as an Exec Producer/writer, and one of the other staff members (or Amy Poehler, or someone similar) takes over in the chair, and keeps the approximate format continuing. It won't be the same, but the show was still decent when John Oliver took over during the summer.

i'm so upset by this.. there's no one like him out there!!
Amy Poehler would just remind me of a SNL skit too much to want to watch it. John Oliver was great when he stood in for Jon, but he's already got his own hbo show.
I just can't imagine that show without him and where am i now going to get my unbiased news from?
