American Sniper -
I felt like I had to post about this movie. I saw it last night and it was amazing, so well done, and a jaw dropping depiction of war and what a patriot Chris Kyle was.
I had watched him commentate on the news, after he served his four tours, for years and always loved him. I'll never forget where I was when I heard what happened to him - being murdered by a deranged veteran he was just trying to help.
Bradley Cooper was phenomenal as Chris - he literally BECAME him. And Sienna Miller was amazing as his wife. I loved the directing and I felt the whole thing was the best movie I have seen in a long time. People need to see this, IMO, to realize the sacrifice that our soldiers make for us. The conditions and the things that went on over there - omg.
Did anyone see it? Or are you going to see it?
I highly recommend. It's so very sad at the end though, but life-changing.

I haven't seen it. But I'm hoping to see it this weekend. I don't recall the story and never heard of Chris Kyle before hearing of this movie.
Have you seen The Theory of Everything? Talk about an actor becoming the character! Eddie Redmayne was amazing! You forget that your not actually watching Stephen Hawking.

American Sniper -
Just gave a great interview, discussed How he studied for the role, learning his accent, training, adding 40lb of muscle. How he felt he had this duty to his family to portray him as accurately as possible. Just a lot of interesting tid bits. Try to catch it on the replay this weekend!

I haven't seen the movie or read the book, but it pisses me off that Jesse Ventura followed through with the defamation law suit.

Re: American Sniper -
I didn't think this movie was very good at all.
Bradley Cooper was really, really good but otherwise the movie was simplistic and cliche ridden.
I think the Hurt Locker is a better film about similar themes.

I read his book and was so upset when he died. He was a true patriot. Thank God we have people like him willing to protect us. I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

For those who haven't seen it yet, Lone Survivor, which is also based on a true story was an AMAZING movie and probably as about realistic as you can get. Incredibly emotional, but fantastic movie.

I agree. I think the performances were terrific, especially BC. But I just didn't LOVE the movie.

I haven't seen it yet but hope to soon.
I have a friend that has served a couple of tours in Iraq in active combat, and he says that this movie is the most accurate depiction of what it's like over there that he's seen in a long time. So I think that's saying something....

I saw it Saturday night. I can't stop thinking about it. It was amazing! It chills me to think of all that they went through...and still go through. To see the decisions that they have to make, is devastating. I can't imagine anyone returning and NOT being changed by that experience. It really was a sad sad ending. What a true hero he was.

Re: American Sniper -
I thought it was a great movie. It was so crazy how quiet everyone was at the end... nobody said a word and the entire theatre was so somber...

Re: American Sniper -
I saw it. Bradley Cooper deserves to win an academy award for his performance. Even though soldiers may return in one piece, you can see the emotional toll that war takes on them. I was so saddened to hear how Chris passed. He was a true American hero.

I saw it over the weekend and sat quietly crying at the end.
As for his acting. He was great. But I think the guy who played Stephen Hawking deserves it. Hands down. A phenomenal performance. If anyone hasn't seen it. I highly recommend it.

I will not be seeing it. Ever since my son served a year in Iraq and came back with PTSD, I cannot bear to watch any movies having to do with war. I just cannot bring myself to see any of them.

In our theatre there was for sure a woman and her family members who must have been in a similar situation because they were SO emotional and I could just tell they had someone who served and had lived some of that. It was heartbreaking.
I thank you and your son for the service he gave and continues to give to this country. I thank him from myself, my son, and my entire family.
I realize that without people like him I wouldn't have the freedoms I have.

I loved it....and i loved Bradley Cooper. I watched a few interviews with Chris Kyle and he played him sooooo well.
I really feel as Americans we need to be educated more about the war and the job these men and women do for us....incredible.

My DH really wants to see it but my younger brother recently joined and even the commercial makes me cry, actually anything lately relating to the military makes me cry! I'm not sure I can watch it.
