Lost my mucus plug after I started to feel first contractions (3am). My DD was born 23 hrs later at 2am.

dc#2 lost some of it about a week before and then the rest after my water broke

Keep in mind that internals can mess with the plug and make you lose it. It can regenerate which is what I think happened with me with my first. I lost big chunks after my OB " stirred things up" at 38 weeks but didn't go into labor until my induction at almost 40 weeks. kept losing pieces those two weeks prior and it would drive me crazy wondering if I could go any minute!
With my second, I lost some on my own. ( refused internals until 40 weeks) but still went over a week.
With my third, I didn't lose any until I woke up at 11 days past EDD with bloody show and in full labor. (Only one internal at 41 weeks)

I went into labor immediately after losing it. I was in the hospital at the time for a check up. Had my baby boy 5 hours later! lol

I didn't. I lost part of it, then had about 8 hours of contractions and then they stopped. I was induced two days later.
