Godparent question

I'm due early September with DC #2. DH and I picked who we wanted as the godparents right away but didn't announce anything.
We found out after we announced we were expecting that the person we were going to ask is expecting two weeks after me.
Some friends have commented to me that it may be too much to ask of the person since they will have their own child to care for.
Looking for opinions. Do I still ask?
There isn't really anything she needs to do. She would be at christening anyway since she is immediate family.

Def ask. It's who you want. Just they will have a kid is no excuse. That's crazy. I'm godparents to 2 and have 2 kids. It's never been an issue.

I agree with the pp!
Assuming you are waiting at least a few weeks before having the baptism she will likely be able to attend. I don't think her expecting will interfere in any way.

Godparent question

We are going to try to TTC # 3 this summer, my BFF is going to TTC # 1 at the exact same time. I already know that DH & I are going to be the baby's godparents. If we both end up getting PG fairly quickly, our babies will very likely be a month apart or even less. But I still plan on being there for her and being her child's godmother. After the christening day, there is not a whole lot that needs to be done anyway. I would most definitely still ask!

our best friends are my DS's god parents. Their baby is 9 months younger than DS. I absolutely think you should ask her.

I don't think that's a reason not to ask. Godparents don't have anything to do other than show up for the christening. It's not like you're asking her to be in a wedding where there are a ton of responsibilities and things to do.

I would definitely ask her! Chat Icon

Godparent question

Thanks everyone. I didn't see an issue with asking. But a good friend of mine thought it was a bad idea and got me thinking.
We are going to ask her.
Thanks again
