Question for csection moms of 2+
How much time did your older child(ren) spend with you visiting while you were in the hospital? Im due in less than 3 weeks and just getting a little anxious and sad about being away from DC #1 (2.5 yrs old) for those 4 days.
I was thinking if I had a room to myself there wouldnt be harm in him visiting each day for a couple hours with my mom/DH, but my mom thinks it's a bad idea, especially recovering from surgery.
Any insight from BTDT moms?

I plan on getting a private room. And my son who is also 2 1/2 will be with my mom and dad- as my hubby will be with me!
I would love for my son to spend a lot of time with me…But i know he will get bored very fast…..Im gonna let him stay as long as he wants...

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
My DS was 2.5 when I had DS2. He only stayed about an hour each day. I had a room to myself, but it was just too boring for him and honestly it was stressful for me b/c he wanted to climb on me. I missed him, but it wasn't as bad as I though it would be and prior to that I had never been away from him overnight.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
For my sched c-section it was such a difference than with my first crash c. Recovery is better and I had a lot of help. DS1 was just 2 when DS2 was born. Had a private room so he was in the room with both mine and DH's parents as soon as I came out of recovery. Either my parents or IL's brought in to the hospital everyday for a few hours a day. With family, friends and lots of other relatives visiting bringing him toys, taking him to the park, having someone sleepover and spoiling him he was fine. Everyone kept him so busy plus I still kept him at daycare 3 days a week. It was summer and they had a cute summer program for his class. Kiddie pool or sprinklers and lots of outside playtime. Now at almost 3 years later he doesn't even remember a time without his little brother. It'll be fine.

Question for csection moms of 2+
When I had my daughter my twins were about 21 months old. I was dreading leaving them for a long time leading up to her birth. But once it happened it went so much smoother then I thought. At my hospital there was visiting hours for grandparents and siblings between 2-4 and then general visiting was 7-8. My mom brought them up each day for the 2-4 session. Im pretty sure they stayed the whole time each day. I couldn't imagine not seeing them for 3 or 4 day in a row.

Question for csection moms of 2+
My twins were 29 months when DS was born and it was the hardest thing ever leaving them the morning of my CS. I had DS on a Thursday morning and didn't get to see my twins until Saturday afternoon. They did get bored very quickly though and as a pp mentioned, it did get a little stressful for me. They wanted to be all over me and I was still in a lot of pain. They stayed for about an hour and a half and then went home with my best friend. I left the hospital sunday afternoon.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
My DD was 4.5 when my DS was born. She was at the hospital the whole day while we were waiting for my C-section and then came for a few hours each day. (2-4pm) She also came the second night too. The day I was being discharged she was with me all morning and we left the hospital together as a family.
I wanted her there as much as possible. I missed her and she was excited to meet her baby brother. I didn't have a private room but she was well behaved and it was nice having her with me.

Question for csection moms of 2+
DS was 13 months when DD was born. My sister brought him into recovery about an hour after Csection which was at about 4pm and they stayed about 2 hours. I only stayed 2 nights. DH brought him in after daycare the next but he was bored after an hour or 2 so then my sister took him home. I talked the doctor into letting me leave the next day. But recovery was amazingly easy for me with DD. I did not want to be away from DS for any longer than that and i really did feel well enough to leave plus it was a Friday so I had plenty of help for the weekend.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
I had a c section with baby #2 and baby #3. With baby #2 DS was 3 years old. DH brought him everyday for an hour at a time. With baby #3, DS was 6 and DD was 3. DH brought them the day after the c section only...more because DS had school during the day. DH came everyday though. Recovery with the first c section was great but with the second c section, it was a little harder for me.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
My mom brought DD1 the day after my c-section when I was up and feeling a little better. But she caused such a scene when it was time to leave that we didn't have her come back the next day.
I can cry just thinking about her screaming out to me as DH carried her out.
So honestly, I would play it by ear. Of course try it at least once, but be prepared.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
I'm obviously not BTDT, but my roommates little girl stayed a good part of the day. Here dad would take her out for food and snacks, then grandma and grandpa would come by. My next roommate had 3 boys and they didn't come at all because she said she needed rest and they would jump on her lol

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
My son was 3.5 when my second wad born. I had my csection late at night so he came the next day & then one other day after that. He spent the rest of the time either with my husband, at school or with my brother & sister in law
I was dreading leaving him too but it was fine!! He loved coming to see me but he also loved the time he spent with his daddy & cousin!

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
DS#1 was almost 4 when DS#2 was born. The section was scheduled for a Monday morning so Sunday night, we brought DS to SIL (she’s a teacher so she had off for the summer) and he slept over there since we had to be at the hospital pretty early.
I had Sawyer around 8:30 so SIL brought DS by around 12:00 maybe?? He visited for maybe an hour or 2 – along with the grandparents Then SIL took DS back to her house and DH picked him up later that evening?
DH took him to camp (daycare) each day. He’d pick him up earlier than normal and bring him by for a couple of hours and then they’d go home.
I missed him a lot (not sure he felt the same ) but I wouldn’t have wanted him there all the time. I had a hard time moving around and he was sooooooo bored even when he was there only an hour or two. All that would make him happy was to play with the iPad or iPod. He’d be walking out the door saying “Daddy, let’s go!!!”
Though, one night, DH texted me when they got to the car that when they got outside, DS turned around and looked up towards my window and whispered “Good night momma – hope you had a good day.” So, that made me cry.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
Jack was 33 months. He came up the first night for maybe 2 hours and then that was it.
It was actually harder for him to see me and then have to leave so we decided I would call him daily. He cried when he had to leave the first and only time and I didn't want to put either of us through that again so we decided not to bring him back up.
I only stayed 3 days anyway.

Question for csection moms of 2+
DD #2 was in the nicu so DD #1 did not get to visit her new baby sister. The baby was not doing well the first two days, so we were in the nicu mostly and my parents brought DD #1 to visit me twice. I had a private room but DD #1 has a short attention span so she was ready to leave anyway.

Re: Question for csection moms of 2+
DD was 2.5 when DS was born and I was so afraid I'd miss her terribly. She came the first day and was so happy and excited but then wanted ot touch everything and get into everything in the hospital room (I had a private room), I was so exhausted it was all a little too much, actually. We went home on the 3rd day (I hate being in the hospital so we begged to get out early with both kids) and seeing her at home was much better :)
