bottle help

What did you register for, what do u use?

I am not sure yet if I'll breast or formula feed... I do know if I breast feed most of the breast milk will have to be bottled BC I am a ftwm with crazy hours..

So which bottle for breast n bottle feed?
Which for formula feeding?

I like the Playtex airevent it prevented a lot of gas by not letter her swallow air. They aren't that expensive. You could register for one small set and see how they work.

We use Dr. Brown's. A lot of pieces but we have the dishwasher case so it's easy.

Some people say that you have to let baby's try lots of bottles, but I don't agree with that. Years ago there was one bottle and all babies were fine with that. It's all marketing now!

Dd1 we used dr browns but they are a pain. Dd2 didn't like those so we switched to playtex drop ins. Best move we ever made. You don't need a lot of bottles b/c you change the liners so a lot less washing. We just made sure to get extra nipples so I wasn't washing those each time she had a bottle. They get great reviews for gas and reflux too.

I found the best for preventing gas were the drop-ins & dr browns.

We started with Avent natural, and we liked their ease of use but dd was gassy. We switched to dr. Browns and I hated them - so many pieces, bottles are thin, ounce markings hard to read. But after switching once, we weren't gonna buy even more bottles to switch again. They didn't even help with the gas. We eventually switched to playtex drop ins. Didn't love those either, but there was less to wash.

I registered for avent. DD was ebf and wouldn't take the avent bottle at all. I bought some tommee tippee bc they looked most natural to me and were nice and soft to latch onto and she took to those no problem.

My advice is to not register for bottles. Go in to BRU and buy one of each type -- Dr Browns, Playtex Drop in, etc. Then try them. Each baby is different. My lil guy would only take a certain latex nipple at first... then over time he graduated to the dr brown plastic ones. I had ppl running to the store to get me a few diff bottles bc he didnt take to the first one we tried. So i recommend getting 1 of each and then ordering a kit of the one you prefer.

Edited to add: if you do not BF or if you supplement, I highly recommend the nursettes for the first 2 weeks. You just shake it and put the nipple on. These were a godsend when feeding every 2-3 hrs in the middle of the night. Cleaning bottles (esp Dr. Browns) gets to be a huge time commitment.

I use Playtex Nursers. tried Dr browns dd did not take to them. These she did well with from the start and never changed. Also easy to travel with and clean. Not a lot of parts. Dr Browns has a ton of parts.

Honestly register for bottles but only open 1 package, once baby is here see what baby likes. They are all different. This way you can exchange the ones you have that are unopened if necessary.
