I'm all but positive that's going to be the ending. Last night I was MAD. Now as much as it really breaks my heart for poor Ted, I'm kind of coming around to the idea.
When I first started watching the show on Netflix a few years a go I assumed she was dead/gone in some way because she was never mentioned in a present tense. After watching a few episodes I figured I just misunderstood.
There were several hints last night for sure & last season when he runs to the mother's door. They just finished fimling the finale & I heard that in some of the last scenes Barney isn't wearing a suit. He previously said the only time he doesn't wear a suit is to a funeral :-/

If they end it with her being dead, I am going to be so MAD.
That being said, if I was one of Ted's kids, and he just spent hours telling me how he met my mother (who had passed), and 90% of that story was about how he was in love with Aunt Robin, I would not be pleased!

That being said, if I was one of Ted's kids, and he just spent hours telling me how he met my mother (who had passed), and 90% of that story was about how he was in love with Aunt Robin, I would not be pleased!
I say that all the time. I'd be pissed if my father was supposed to tell me about how he met my mom and most of it is about being in love with "aunt robin" and a few other women in the mix including almost marrying another woman as well.

Will be so annoyed that I've spent all this time watching the saddest comedy of all time. And how most of the time he was telling the story of how he and Aunt Robin kept getting back together and basically always has and always will have feelings for her.

Yeah, def seems like the mother is sick and dying which is why Ted cried after she said "what mother wouldnt want to be at her daughters wedding"... so sad! hopefully there is a twist that doesn't lead to this ending!

They really made it seem that the Mother was dying.
Except, that would mean: "Hey kids, you know how your mom is gone, and we miss her and love her so much? Let me spend 9 YEARS telling you the story of how I was obsessively in love with... your Aunt Robin. Don't worry, I'll throw in a couple of anecdotes at the end about your mom and how she... first met Marshall and Lily."
Really? That would be insane.

I don't know. The kids seem like typically annoyed teenagers as he's telling the story, not like kids remembering or grieving for their mother. I think (and hope!) it's just to generate speculation.

Wasn't he wearing a suit at Marshall's father's funeral though? Now I have to double check this...

I didn't think about this till I came on here to read what others though. Such a sad ending then!
DH and I are just excited we only have to sit through 4 more episodes. Just putting in our time to finish this off since we've watched it from the beginning.
I feel the exact same way. DH is the only person I know who is disappointed that it's ending. Enough already!

This is so weird bc that episode is on right now on ch. 9. It's s2e14 "Monday Night Football"!! Lol
